Have always thought that he was the form 10 at the end of last season playing in the development team under Leon. I wonder if some of the rule changes may have helped him in that position, just a guess. We defiantly need more than one 10 going forwards, as there will be different scenarios which suit different 10s. I am just hoping we get another DC clone.

WC rules are a lot different to what we are playing now.The Rugby Championship will show us a lot more as far as First Five's for the WC.
We revert back to a slower paced more set piece orientated game for the WC.

DMac fangirls need to acknowledge the screamingly obvious; his claims to All Black squad scall up isn't at five-eighth; it's at full black as reserve.

fangirls? Your opinion would be more convincing without the insults or the invented "full black" position.

    alt text

I wasn't a DMac fam at AB level as a starter let alone 10, but he has definitely improved. And the contenders aren't in the most convincing of form or confidence.

Who is denying he hasn't improved, or that Mo'unga and Beaudy aren't exactly at the top of their form? The simple fact remains if it was a three horse race, he's coming last.

On form it has to remain Mo'unga, but Beauden's form this weekend hints at competition now he's taking the ball to the line again. May that continue.

    you care enough for insults.
As to "simple fact"? I don't think those words mean what you think they mean.

    Stuff
"Now, we're seeing the emergence of Stephen Perofeta coming through, and Damian's come back, and took a little while to find his feet at the end of last year, but has been really impressive in Super Rugby"..."His challenge at 10 has been his depth management, being able to know when to play flat and when to play deep," Foster said of McKenzie. "He instinctively likes to take the ball to the line"... "There's a few things he's got to keep working on, but he's a big mover. We're excited for him."

Maybe you didn't get the memo?
And anyway it is Ian Foster, not convinced your simple facts will predict what he will do.

I've never been a Dmac fan. Far too Helter skelter. But his play since his return from Japan, in particular this year, has won me over. He is a serious consideration for 10, I would like to see how he goes in a test match against decent opposition

This reserve hooker is a munter.

Agree on Faiva. His lineout throwing is poor and in general he's only adequate We lost over half our lineout throws (at least it seemed like it) when he came on. We need Devery Coles or Aumua back otherwise team has another big handicap. All down to all these injuries. They never stop

Morgan showed how limited he is. Moreby after playing well last week was limited again. Except for his great try. Maybe he should play on the wing when (or if) love returns

The same Ian Foster that preferred George Bridge? That one?

Really? You worked out that the All Black coach decides who is in the squad and not me?

DMac has done enough to be given a shot at 10 in a black jersey prior to the World Cup. Up to him what he does with it.

It'll have to continue against sides that actually put pressure on him.

He's always looked a million bucks when given time and space.

@Winger Moorby doesn’t have much of a kicking game so is more suited to the wing. Love will definitely be fullback when he eventually returns.

I hope we get some players back soon otherwise our season is over.

Moorby kicked very well in one game. Maybe vs Brumbies. But otherwise his kicking has been absent. Or he's been only so-so. He prefers running to kicking mostly though even when kicking is clearly the better option. Except for the Brumbies? match. So he can do it but rarely does. Shame as who knows when love is returning

Agree on players returning. Esp hookers. Otherwise we will easily lose our next 3 games. A poor line-out (as we have been in 2 matches) = poor results against the top sides

That's why I think he's best suited at fullback - the time and space suits him.

Ooh boy howdy that was a soggy one.

Yeah, the TV coverage didn't show how heavy the rain was in the 1st half, especially. Combine that with the wind and it was a game for the forwards.

I thought that the Chiefs won this game in the 1st half, playing into a strong wind. Morgan has no length in his kicks, which meant that the Chiefs won the kicking duel, and therefore the battle for territory.

This reminded of the game between these teams a few years earlier played in even worse conditions.

@Canes4life Moorby is a very good player. Does the little things very well plus has some speed. Runs decent lines which is why I don’t necessarily mind him at fullback. Reminded me a little of how Howlett used to play fullback.

Love is a natural fullback so should return to that position, but Moorby goes alright there too.

The problem is at 10. It’s not just the kicking too.

I agree but I wouldn’t mind Moorby on the right wing when Love returns. He kind of reminds me of Jane, has speed, a good fend and is strong for his size, pretty sound under the high ball aswell.

I think the Chiefs game was a little out of the norm. The Canes are not normally left short in the kicking department but with Love and Cameron injured, Barrett unavailable and Godfrey with the Under 20s we kind of ran out of options.
