    Relief.
That was my overwhelming emotion after that game.
I was concerned that the Boks were coming off that epic battle against France and would be flat.
And they were. They were at least 10% down on individual performance across the park.

Having said that, I give immense credit to England for blunting the Boks in almost every facet of the game - bar the scrums once Ox and Koch came on. They kicked and chased well, were excellent in the lineouts and the loose and their defence was heroic. They suffocated the Boks virtually out of the game. In the end, it was immensely unlucky and almost cruel for them to lose the game in the 78th minute.

On the (one tiny) plus side for the Boks, they showed enough character to win ugly when they really were well outplayed. I'll take that. But if that level of performance is repeated in the final we are going to see our backsides against the ABs.

No, but you can imagine a context where "wit kant" could be used - e.g, having a pop after contesting a breakdown - "You're the white side/jou die wit kant"

To me this just seems a convenient cover-up. I don't speak Afrikaans of course, but at least as an English translation this makes zero sense. It also depends on the context of course, what words were said around it.

    Hah brilliant.

Ohhhh good one SA, sooo convenient you just happen to have another widely spoken language where "Kant" means "side".

There are so many situations where it could easily be appropriately said and most likely wasn't even said to Curry (who is a moron) and yet you want to cite the convenience of inventing another language a few hundred years ago.

I'm not saying that and you have totally ignored my final line. The key thing to note is that this whole kant explanation has come from online experts, not the Boks themselves.

Nothing will come from it, because it was he said she said, but to flat out say this is a foregone conclusion is wide of the mark.

Bok team going to be knackered going into this. 2 tough games on the trot. After the final they would have played every team in the current top 6 world rankings....

    Current WR Ranking...

    South Africa
    New Zealand
    Ireland
    France
    England
    Scotland

So you're saying they've had the perfect warm up to prepare themselves?

Bokke continue to firm in favouritism.

Compare that to the 2007 WC they won.... Argi and Fiji in knockouts... Very different. They will do well to recover and definite chance AB's can run away with it.

On the bongi thing: onkant, (offside) windgat (asshole) …many Afrikaans words that could easily be misinterpreted. England are famous moral high ground whiners.

And yet all that has happened is that Curry raised a possible racial slur to the ref, downplayed it post match, the England team have said nothing and we’ve seen no whining on here from the English contingent and very little in the press.

Good article from Stuart Barnes on England's need to score tries.

    Stuart Barnes  /  TimesMediaSport

England need more panache (and tries) to become a top team

England need more panache (and tries) to become a top team

One-off wonders deserve immense credit for catching Springboks cold. But, had they won, it would have taken a veritable monsoon for them to cage the All Blacks

Not in the context of what I was saying and replying to, which was about England being a bunch of whiners. "All" was in regard to Curry's actions, not the actual possible racial slur. Which I agree, is significant if proven to be true.

@Catogrande it's an extremely significant accusation to make on the fly. He knows the ref is mic'd up. Or maybe not, it is Curry.

    @Bones

Ah! Me taking you out of context rather than the other way round. If unfounded then his action is significant. Agreed. However in the context of England being whiners, my point stands. Not much evidence of it currently.

Not sure what you’re getting at with the “it is Curry” bit. He’s not known for being a twat. Well, no more than any decent openside that is.

@Catogrande I'm not surprised you've missed my umpteen posts prior to this incident calling him a moron, but they're there. Makes SBW look like a genius.

I hope not, for your sake and my eyes. Forgive me but the SA 23 don't bear any resemblance to Charlize Theron. Besides, you are defending RWC World Champions and number one, play in the NH, and had some good matches to tune up and reach match fitness. We are definitive underpups.
