A great man. I was coached by him for 6-7 years. Formidable but with an impish sense of humour to go with it. And he gave me plenty of good opportunities above and beyond the standard coaching programme.

won't mean much to many, but NFL wide receiver Jacoby Jones died this morning.

Broncos fans will always remember him as the guy who scored the 70-yard touch down in the dying seconds of the Divisional round to eliminate us. Niners fans will remember him as the guy who scored the longest Superbowl TD of all time to beat help beat them. Two plays like that in the same successful playoff run.

David Morrow has died aged 71, just days after learning he had been admitted to the NRL Hall of Fame in an emotional phone call with his former colleague, announcer Ray Hadley.

    How old was he?
I studied in ChCh 98-01 and he seemed about 60 then.
It was always eventful when he jumped on your bus, he was a classic!

Didn’t give his age but he already seemed about 60 in the 1980s!

I think I remember the final. Was all over his opponent in the first two rounds. Like seriously better.

Then just held on in the third, stepping in to clinch and do nothing.

I know nothing of boxing scoring but kinda felt he was close to giving it away in that last round. Obviously knew more than I did...

No longer into cricket much now, but remember he was an absolutely key figure in NZ's transformation from whipping boys to a seriously competitive team in the 70's/80's. Glenn Turner was huge in his praise for his influence and IIRC he mentored many great NZ players.
