    Leave the World behind

Yeah, more like leave this movie behind. I won’t say too much as I don’t want to leave any spoilers but it was shit. Julia Roberts took her angry pills, Ethan Hawke has fallen a long way since Training Day…….and the movie left nothing but unanswered questions. Pointless. Avoid this one.

Rebel Moon. Well at least the first hour or so. Really shit. How ZS managed to fůck this up is beyond me. Could have been great but was awful. Disagree with @NTA that this would be loved if made in the 80s. Firstly the 80s film-makers would have killed for this budget and effects. Second, an 80s version would have been camp as fůck. I don't know wtf this was.

Had to watch 300 to detox. Now that's a good film.

    The Color of Money.

First watch for over a decade. Cruise and Newman were perfectly cast, but had forgotten that it was much more Newman's movie than Cruise.

    4/5

Malbatt: Misi Bakara - the story of the Malay battalion that helped the US's rescue mission in Mogadishu as part of the UN, more famously known for Black Hawk Down.

Apparently it took 20 years for them to be officially recognised for thier efforts there too!

Obviously subtitled, think it was on a more modest budget than BHD, but seems the director had recently watched the original Top Gun as a scene early on was reminiscent of the famous volley ball scene....anywhoo, decent enough movie, if not struggling a bit with thier lack of budget with some of the cgi work not that great.

Also, am guessing a bit of resentment it took so long to be recognised for thier role in assisting the rescue of US troops with some of the dialogue.

Next Goal Wins: Not a great film (lower tier Taika), but amiable and watchable enough. The hour and 40 minutes actually sped past pretty fast.

It had evil Tongans and asshole Aussies so that's a bonus.

    Leave The World Behind

Complete dogshit. The cool trailer is the cool stuff in the film. So much pointless crap, absolutely no action whatsoever and basically just a movie full of people talking about stuff when they have no clue what's going on. Massive cast creates a massive disappointment. Don't bother.

1 dull boat crash out of 5 completely pointless staring deer.

    Even harsher than my review

I too was fooled by the trailer. How wrong we were

I enjoyed Leave The World Behind. Fun little drama with plenty of intrigue and mystery that leaves you guessing.

Admittedly, I never saw the trailer - so maybe it sold itself as an action film.

I’m with you - scripting was a bit average, and Rent Boy has turned a little sappy, but overall I liked it, something different , and a great ending

Neat little bow on the Friends angle, left a bit to the imagination which annoyed the missus, outlier possibility left open for a sequel (hope not) - what’s not to like?

As vague a critique as I’d expect from a policy chick

Look I don’t know what sort of policies you’re into but there have been two very in depth reviews stating why this movie was shite. It’s pretty much official

Astonishingly colossal use of the word bit.

Finally go around to watching Glass Onion. Another rollicking good watch, a clever whodunnit similar to the first. I shouldn't have been surprised to discover who the villain was. Very well executed and worth my time

@canefan improved on a rewatch. Presumably my expectations were too high the first time around.

By the cringe but Amazon and Netflix have a wide range of quality in their offerings. Some great stuff, some diabolical stuff and then some absolutely must watch stuff.

The Gardener on Prime is in the latter category. Basic story of a well to do but dysfunctional family under threat when armed burglars pay them a visit. Up steps the Serbian gardener who happens to be a war veteran to save the day. The Serb looks like a knock off Charles Bronson which some might consider a red flag.

However the level of writing, acting, dialogue, plot and action sequences are what stand out. Without exception they are absolutely awful - think Dolemite level awful but without the humour. This film is so bad that it simply must not be missed. This is one you can tell your Grandchildren about.

Watch it now, before it gets shitcanned.
