Just watched about the grossest gross out comedy ever. The Brothers Grimsby. Criminally wasted supporting cast (two gorgeous gals in Penelope Cruz and Annabelle Wallis) some funny bits, some really unfunny bits. One of those movies that is annoying because you see the bones of a much better, funnier movie trying to escape the bog of stupid shit.

some of it was pretty bloody good though. i didn't completely hate it

I thought it was a good way to waste an afternoon.

Yeah I thought it was fun, although disappointing to find out it's not based on a true story.

Jane Leeves, aka Daphne from the sitcom Fraiser, played a saucy bisexual dancer, who had a threesome with Willem Dafoe, in the great film To Live and Die in LA.

Without wishing to be picky, she could not have a threesome with William Dafoe, it would have to be William Dafoe and...

I am only being this pedantic because 1) I absolutely loved this film and 2) I cannot remember Daphne being in it.

Yeah, I had to look at IMDb as I couldn't remember her in the movie either (there is a photo of her character, which doesn't help me). But it is years since I've watched it.

So..the Irishman. Despite the rave reviews I didn't like it. It just seemed to meander. I know Scorcese is a great but I'm getting the feeling he might be way past it, much like the over-the-hill A list actors in this flick. At the very least they should have cast some more realistic talent for these roles and maybe I could have stuck with it (I got to 2 hours in, Mrs was fast asleep and with a full 80 mins to go I figured life is too short to watch this). All the cgi in the world can't cover up the cringieness of an 82 year old man shuffling around the place with his pants pulled up to his chest but somehow inexplicably being respected as a feared gangster...don't even get me started on the fight scenes.

After the mainstream reviewers have had their wank over it, this thing is going to be torn to shreds by the next generation of movie reviewers.

Probably the most annoying thing is that there is actually a really good movie hidden here. There are glimpses of great scenes and build up but it is let down by some dreadful casting, a lack of focus and an almost obsession with trying to immitate great movies of the past rather than being a great movie in its own right.

@Rembrandt It's one thing to age actors, but to make old actors look young is impossible. Sadly disappointed. A movie they should've made twenty years ago.

Every actor in The Irishman, apart from Bobby Cannavale, looks like they're a million years old. De-aging my ass.

It’s interesting when they de aged Micheal Douglas in Antman they used a young actor for the body. I take it they didn’t do that here?

I didn’t get to the end of Wolf of Wall Street, might give this a miss.

Really enjoyed Ad Astra. An elegant looking and atmospheric film. Engaging throughout.

It didn't add up to much in the end, and that muted affect lessened its impact. It reflects the quietly bleak outlook of our times though. Not a great period for art. Too unsure?

Not quite sure why, on what looks like his return to service, he goes to the MOD building?

Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds... This is actually a movie also starring Taika Waititi.

Are you talking the Irishman here? If so I would have to agree
