So, watched Tenant…now in this strange situation where I couldn’t really explain the plot very well…but also really enjoyed the acting, the main Dude was good so was rob Pattinson, makes me look forward to the Batman
I don't even think Nolan can. Now that it's on whichever streamer it's on I'm looking forward to seeing it again to "look" for stuff.
Yeah, even the wife suggested we watch again after doing some reading
I saw three movies at the cinema last year. Tenet was comfortably third best.
You have to let us know the other two so we can agree or scorn you.
1917 and Waves
I haven't seen Waves. Worth a watch?
I thought 1917 was overrated due to the technical aspect, but still a good film. I don't think either of them dented my top 10 for the year, but I could be 100% wrong. I may have rated them both higher at the time.
It’s unusual but quite a rewarding flick overall so yeah. The other half chose it and we were very short on options post COVID. Speaking of which Dune and the new Bond flick are delayed again which pisses me off to no end.
I'm looking forward to see what they do with Dune ... Bond, meh.
Even someone like me as a massive fan feels a bit the same to be honest. Perhaps after 59 years the plug needs to be pulled but I’ll wait and see.
Dune looks potentially incredible, haven’t been this excited about a movie in years.
Casino Royale was genuinely good, then they've all been shit to me, even the other one people rate, and it's not like Mendes isn't a good director ... but they seem poorly scripted. I had to leave one of them with half an hour to go to catch a ferry and still have no idea how it ends and probably never will.
Dune is either going to be awesome or terrible, I don't think there's an inbetween, but even if it's terrible because it's Villnueve it will he hailed a masterpiece anyway.
I definitely enjoyed what he did with Blade Runner even if it took me a few views to appreciate it.
I liked Blade Runner II too, better than the original for me.

another Blade runner II fan, thought it carried on from the original really well, could be watched back to back comfortably
historically im a big bond fan, have them all on DVD up to casino royal, i lost a lot of interest when Craig said effectively he'd rather carve out his own eyes that play bond again...and then didn't have any big films for a couple of years and then was offered a lot of money to come back, dont think i'd be able to watch it without seeing the greedy actor now if you know what i mean
really looking forward to Dune

Casino Royale is a statistical anomaly.

I'm giving him a lot of rope. BR 2 was superb and the Dune books create a magnificent world.

That quote is out of context, it was basically a joking way of saying he needed a break. He's had a lot of injuries playing Bond and has to stay on a super strict diet, plus he's getting on a bit. They don't sound fun to make.
-
@kirwan i didnt actually see a direct quote, or didn't realise i had if thats actually what he said, the articles i read at the time seemed to make it very clear there was no way he would play Bond again. I remember thinking it was just as much about not wanting to deal with the fans and only being known as bond, being typecast as it was how hard they are to make.
Either way its fair enough if you're hanging up the boots etc, he's the one making it so can say what he likes about making it, i think id just moved on from craig as bond so i wasn't overly interested in when he signed up again

It was a dry sense of humour joke that got used to base clickbait articles around.

Connery did exactly the same in the 60’s until he got lured back for ridiculous money to make the admittedly quite crap Diamonds are Forever. He looked bored, old, out of shape and he also wore this tie.

The Poison Rose (released internationally as Eye for an Eye) is a 2019 American thriller film starring John Travolta and Morgan Freeman. The film was directed by George Gallo and Francesco Cinquemani.
So, so fucken bad, that I couldn't press stop. What a cast! All performing without an ounce of talent in a completely ridiculously formulaic yet bizarre script.
I don't even know how to rate it.
@kruse, please do your best.

Finally saw Joker.
Wow. Pretty damn good. IMHO Phoenix is easily the best Joker. Having now watched it I’m not sure what the controversy was about prior to release. Will be fascinating to see where they go from here.

A Quiet Place Part II
If you liked the first one, this is a worthy sequel.

Not as good as the first for me

The Deep Ones - based on a H P Lovecraft story.
Pretty crap production values and average acting, but they captured the impending-doom atmosphere in Lovecraft's books pretty well and way better than most big budget films based on Lovecraft's work.

@kruse well it has Ms Beckinsale, so I was sold before learning what the movie was about, so once I did, yippie kai-ay MF!
Yep, same reason I watched Atomic Blonde!
