Joey Cape, singer from Lagwagon and Bad Astronaut, has been releasing one song at a time of his acoustic stuff. I think it's fantastic.

Bad Religion released "The Dissent of Man" recently, it's a very good album.

I've found the older I get the more I enjoy 'heavy metal' really been getting into the Axe-Attack on Sunday nights. Love it.

Not that these guys are heavy metal but I never used to like Led Zep, but now I can't get enough of them!

Loving your work men but loving M4Ls work the most !

Splendid stuff indeed. Les Claypool ? Bass legend. Also Deep Purples Richie Blackmore is probably my favouritist axeman...

Speaking of Bass legends it's James Jamerson playing the licks on this funky number.....
Gotta love James Jamerson. Changed the whole use of the Bass as an instrument in modern music. Some of his lines are incredible. i think that there is one Stevie Wonder song he played on where he doesn't repeat at all in the whole song. Just one extremely long riff. Not just A Bass Legend but The Bass Legend.

ONE OF the Bass legends. He was smoother than smooth in his lines. Depends what you're looking for really ( its been discussed on here before but fuck it lets do it again ! ) but it can't be denied what an amazing player this guy was.

I always like a good slapper ( and someone who plays funky bass too 🙂 ) so guys like Flea, Robert Trujillo, Larry Graham, Louis Johnson etc will always be held in great esteem by me.

    You forgot to mention Mark King <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Yeah there have been other pioneers in styles (and plenty of imitators). Bootsy Collins would have to rank highly on my all time Bass players list. There's a clip on YouTube of Flea and Bootsy plaing together at a RHCP gig but some dumb woman does a voiceover right over the top of it.

Just got back from Leonard Cohen and I've got everybody knows stuck in my head.Very cool concert and he's pretty badass for a 77 year old.Seeing Bic Runga live was a bonus.
John Carpenter's frequent soundtrack collaborator embraces the darkness in advance of Halloween.

You may not know the name Alan Howarth, but you'll surely have heard his music before. He's been involved with the sound design of movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Poltergeist and all of the Star Trek movies. Some of his finest work, though, has come in collaboration with John Carpenter, whose soundtrack to Escape from New York has been beloved, rinsed and re-edited by countless DJs. Renowned for his murky and unstable atmospheres, Howarth's work is perfect for this time of year, which is exactly why we asked him to delve into his archives to provide a special Halloween mix in honor of his performances at this year's Unsound festival.
http://ra4.residentadvisor.net/audio/RA230_101025_Alan-Howarth-residentadvisor.net.mp3

I think he's the only artist that I have bought every album that he's released. Quite a different sound than most other R&B artists

A good question. I'm listening to a mix of all different stuff from different eras.

-- The Cramps (punkbilly band from the early '80s)

--Old Johnny Cash (Get Rhythm, Cry, Cry Cry, Walk the Line, etc.)

--Geto Boys (gangsta rap, but really good gangsta rap)

--She & Him (new, retro early 60's sound)

The first song is from earlier in his career and one of my favourites the second song my wife walked out to the instrumental for our wedding. Was our first dance song too.
