I agree with your 1st sentence
Your 2nd sentence is subjective
An important Question is whether his punishment is proportionate to his actions.......
Your spelling of FOLAU is idiotic to say the least if it was deliberate
Wait... It's subjective when canefan says what he believes? Noooooo

This may shock you but 2 things can be right at the SAME time
I suggest you try better when constructing strawman arguments

I certainly don’t agree with that.
The part of free speech I struggle with is being free of consequence from all corners.
Government / Law. That is free speech.
Employers .... can / worms everywhere -

What the fuck are you on about? Why is there a face screaming in fear? What exactly is my strawman argument? I suggest you try better when understanding the meaning of subjective. Oh and sarcasm.

Bit of revelation. AR apparently offered Folau money to remove the post.
Truth will out but I do find it funny how 'fake news' only applies to some things.
That link itself says that RA have denied that the claim is true yet that is a footnote to the headline that is swallowed up by the gullible.
You forget, Folau is a Christian and it's a sin to lie so it must be true.
I believe that's checkmate!
..Actually I doubt there will be any evidence either way. AR surely wouldn't be stupid enough to put it in an email and Folau wouldn't be devious enough to record a conversation
-
Yeah cant see that happening anytime soon...
"I'm hopeful for an apology from them and an admission that they were wrong. That would be something that I'd like to get," he said on Sky News.

An Australian player is causing problems in Australia effecting Australian Rugby and dividing Australian rugby fans (fair weather and serious)
I suspect an Australian might have a pretty good idea how it’s playing out..Only one person is responsible for this mess.
The guy who posted the tweet. That “tweet” has been a part of western culture for millenia. It’’s biblical scripture. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. Blame the person(s) who wrote it. Ban social media. Ban the Bible — heck, try banning all religion if you must. But don’t try to tell us a new “messenger” started it. What he did wrong was blaspheme by straying outside the new secular dogma. It’s one cult penalizing a member of another.
OR ... come down hard on the guy who still lives by this part of the book but ignores others which don’t suit his lifestyle,
Just an option.
True, that would be the part that includes me at least three times. I read the whole quote. I’m condemned to Hell by that same scripture. Maybe I just have thicker skin. Maybe I have a high enough IQ that if I’m following a twitter or instagram feed of somebody who says things that offend me, I stop following them, and look for ideas elsewhere. But I understand that while that works perfectly well for me and is a simple solution, it’s probably too much of a reach expecting other people to do the same. So secular dogma it is, and I’m a heretic from both sides — the Christians and the Cult of Woke. Victimized twice, and I’’m okay with it. It gets better. See?.

No it doesn’t. As long as we don’t violate the law, we can say any old dumb irresponsible shit we like. Me — I love punk rock and heavy metal and even some hiphop/rap, and at least half the good stuff qualifies as irresponsible provocations. Book-burners have tried banning views they don’t like for my entire life, and I’m happy every time they fail. Free speech laws aren’t on the books to protect views you agree with; they’re there to protect views you disagree with.

@Salacious-Crumb doesn't that risk lumping everyone's reactions to the tweet into the same basket? Clearly most, if not all, posters on this thread couldn't give 2 rats what Folau has been saying via his posting of scripture. With many saying fill ya boots if you want to share that sort of (insert your term here) stuff.
But aside from it being dick-ish or distasteful the concern is about what that messaging says to less resilient folks. Younger people dealing with homosexual identity or where it fits in the lives of their friends or whanau... etc, etc.. That's where AR and co seem to be coming from with these posts not fitting in with their promotion of inclusion etc.

Jesus, it’s all about the kids. You sound like an old church lady. This pathetic excuse gets trotted out every time. Fot goodnes’ sake, don’t you think parents should be bigger role models than a stranger who happens to be talented at sports? What happened to personal responsibility?
-
@Salacious-Crumb so it's a free for all in your opinion. Each person irrespective of age/whatever is equally adept at dealing with messages like this?

Where did I say or even imply “free-for-all”...? Did you miss the part about the LAW, or do you go straight to the stuff that offends you?
-
@Salacious-Crumb and your message about parental influence isn't just as trite as your call about my "church lady thinking"?

that line gets trotted out alot, right or wrong, these sportstars ARE looked at as role models, whether they like it or not

How so? You don’t believe parents have any responsibility in the upbringing of their children? Or are their rights and duties secondary to the nanny-state?
Exploiting children to stifle free speech is frankly pathetic.
-
@Salacious-Crumb the point is about an individuals capacity to listen (or not) to these sorts of messages and what impact that may have on them. Notwithstanding the influence of other folks in their lives.

That lame excuse can be trotted out every time you’re offended. Well, I’m offended by stupid arguments. Doesn’t mean they should be banned.
