    Australia-NZ-Wales-South Africa.

Think all four games will be nail-biters.

TOKYO, 15 Oct - World Rugby has announced the match officials for the quarter-finals of Rugby World Cup 2019 following a full review of performances over the 37 pool matches.

Jérôme Garcès (France), Nigel Owens (Wales), Jaco Peyper (South Africa) and Wayne Barnes (England) will take charge of the four matches in Tokyo and Oita over the weekend of 19-20 October.

In a selection that reflects the officiating team’s blend of experience and younger talent, Garcès will take charge of his second Rugby World Cup quarter-final as England face Australia in Oita on Saturday (16:15 JST) and Owens will take charge of world champions New Zealand versus Ireland at Tokyo Stadium on the same day (19:15 JST).

Sunday’s matches will see Peyper take charge of his 50th test (and his first quarter-final) with Wales versus France in Oita (16:15), while Barnes, pictured, will round-off the weekend’s action by refereeing hosts Japan against South Africa at Tokyo Stadium (19:15).

    I like the assignments.

The England vs Aus game which looked predictably unpredictable has the three Frenchman to ensure anarchy.

The France vs Wales game which was is bound to be a coin flip given both nations records in knockout games at RWC has the most stable quartet of Peyper/Williams/Berry/Jonker.

If Berry were from a home union he would have a QF for sure.

We avoided the frogs and got Owens. Everything else is gravy

Will Owens favour NZ quite as much without Richie there? 🤔

I almost feel sorry for ENG and AUS supporters (almost), its like having the whole "axis of evil" against you. Wow, the frenchies and skeen.

The most disturbing thing is that RWC likes that combo and could inflict that combination on a semi and/or final... (I hope some sanity prevails)

I feel a new betting market coming on... how many cards issued?

Three yellows and a controversial red across the quarters.

I'm stoked about Owens, games he refs are usually pretty free flowing, not what Ireland want at all.

@Kirwan Agree, although I am now waiting for the article from the NH press.

"Fresh from conduring up a typhoon Tew and Hansen now rig official ref schedules"

I agree that there is usually at least one unexpected result.

I fear that will be our match.

The most damming indictment on Skeen is that not even the Ferns most noted contrarians will have a crack at defending him.

We got Owens? OMG The Irish will have to stfu on the field or he will march them constantly. Hell I would have taken Barnes as well. Thankfully no Skeeny - the convicts and the oppressors get him and garces - that's one clusterfuck of officiating waiting to happen.

Would love for Japan to win but there will be no complacency from SA.

I reckon Aus could upset Eng but will need to pull out all the stops and have great discipline - especially no cards.

Wales to edge France and NZ by 15.
