We have several people off who clearly think they have CV, despite not having been overseas or anywhere near a known vector. Or having the right symptoms.
I don't have any issues with the people that are scared - it's the ones that are too blasΓ© or selfish that are the issue.
Roads are A LOT quieter in Auckland and apparently schools are seeing a lot of kids kept at home.
I drive from Hinuera to Tokoroa/Mt Maunganui/Rotorua each morning depending of where I need to be.
It is significantly quieter on the roads. Driving through Putaruru this morning, it is usually a hive of morning activity, there was one parked car.

The thing that I struggle with is that I woke with a mildly sore throat yesterday morning and wondered if I should go to work (Sometimes snoring can give me a sore throat)
By middle of the day, no sore throat but one dry cough piqued my interest but that was also one off.
Went to Gym this morning for PT and did the best workout yet. So energy levels are excellent. Still have a annoyance in throat today but it is not sore.
Basically, I can't tell within myself if I am hyper-noticing what I would never notice before??
I think there is a mild cold with those symptoms going around doing, I have had it for a couple of weeks. Basically mild you barely notice it.
I completely get that and assume that is what it is but hard to identify when you're a hyper-sensitive to your own going-ons.
One thing I do know is that if I did have Covid-19, I wouldn't have the energy to go to gym etc.
That's the problem though, you can have the virus and have absolutely no symptoms. It's a big bad world put there

they say that about the flu: if there was $1M at the end of your driveway in cash, if you have the flu you wouldn't get up to go and get it...
I got the flu a few years back and it absolutely kicked my arse for weeks. Made me realise every time I claimed to have the flu before was just a mild cold compared to that. Have been getting my flu jab ever since!

Looks like the government is telling NZers to come home ASAP as the options to get home are reducing dramatically. I'd say they're looking at closing the border soon.

@No-Quarter They are also probably trying to reduce the risk of citizens being trapped in other countries, if the airlines stop flying it would be bloody difficult to get back to NZ. Mind you there might be a few cruise ships available....

I have several air tickets paid for but in limbo. If they shut everything down I wonder if I'll get my money back? π€

We've been cancelling stuff left and right, and have found almost all carriers and hotels pretty accommodating actually. If not a refund, credits seem to be offered.
The exception is GotoGate, a UK aggregator that we booked flights to Japan with. They still haven't responded to my cancellation request (you can't call, only email), and our flights were due to be yesterday...π

Air NZ were happy to defer flights as per my ticket class when I called them a couple of weeks ago (seems like a long time now). But they were flying everywhere then. Non-refundable hotels are more a problem, just have to swallow those but I will ask

I expect Air NZ will have to extend dates for offering 12 months credit from the time of ticket purchase or offer a refund. I have a flight booked for next month which won't happen now.

Just back from my local supermarket and it's much busier than usual for that time of day. Toilet paper, hand sanitiser, etc were still on the shelves but supplies are lower. No one avoided each other as we walked down the aisles. The lady restocking pasta was busy.
I got my lunch which was the main objective.

@Bovidae did a run earlier too. Zero detol, or anti-bacterial stuff. But some other cleaning options so it's not the end of the world... a lot of people out and a high proportion of older folks. Some people were definitely keeping a distance from others but many people where just knocking about as usual.
Schools and more business (or all non-essential businesses) closing will kick it up another notch. Does put more pressure on employers too as what expectation of genuine work can you have when the rug rats are at home.
Wish I'd emptied out my barn earlier

Supermarkets are absolutely mental. Just took me ten mins to get out the damn carpark, and I wasn't even going to the supermarket!
Did you have an old man moment and get yourself all discombobulated?? Meant to go to petrol station and ended up at Supermarket?
Have a sit down and a cup of tea
