Lockdown/Covid Check In

This lockdown - 7 weeks or whatever it is, has cost me my marriage, possibly one business (if I decide to go there), my relationship with my father and one sister. I had 3 police show up in the middle of the night to see if I was alive last night. I just laughed. They were very nice, realised that I was sane and my now ex wife (and sister) were the loopy ones and left. God I feel for the cops at times.
I have one person on the planet that I want to talk to and she is half a world away and I can't reach her.
Lockdowns are fucking great.
I too, am a fern lurker now. Too much vitriol against fellow citizens when the real cause of a fucked up world broadcast messages behind a lectern, in a tv studio every second night. These unaccountable "leaders" and "experts" foment fear and hysteria with bank accounts and future prospects that remain unaffected - all the while treating decent people as though we are impressionable naive children.
I've broken my abstention to wish me old mate and sparring partner (with the John Cleese avatar) all the best piloting a life changing new course.
You've been around the globe, seen more than the average human and have the intelligence and fortitude to find satisfaction again, one step at a time. Draw on what you've achieved ( an incredible amount) and those that are proud to have you in their lives. You're a champ mate, your honesty on here for 20 years is testimony of that. Go strong mate.
Yesterday one of my favourite people in the cricket club, and the world, hanged himself. He leaves 2 teenage boys and all of us with questions that will never ever be answered. Yes, he was the LAST one we'd ever thought would get so low as to not be able to talk himself out of tying a knot and everything else that leads to desperate finality.
Finally, for God's sake everyone, stop blaming individual citizens, no matter how odious they are, for our current predicament. I'm probably not going to be able to attend my mate's funeral, and that's got nothing to do with an absent virus and totally due to inconsistent, illogical (and failing) policies purported to improve my life. Leadership and my well being my arse!
The cure is definitively worse than the disease.
All the while I watch people being destroyed in the name of decisions that apparently will make life liveable again.
Not you though Snowy, you won't be destroyed by this nonsense.
Kia kaha bloke. -
Really sorry to hear how things have gone @Snowy. We've got your back bro, put yourself first and take care mate. Kia kaha.

I've noticed that I've been increasingly short, argumentative and combative about topics not even related to covid. Only the other day Mrs Antipodean started talking about how despite moving out of lockdown nothing has really changed and I had to tell her I didn't want to discuss it as it just made me angry and I didn't want to take it out on her.

There is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. This too shall pass.

so ... a halfback?
joking aside. I hear ya man. 9 Weeks sitting at my desk at home every day, with only occasional recent connection to humans outside my family is bloody soul destroying. This shit builds on the kids - no mates, little outside games or sports, it's no big deal for a while, but the longer it rolls, the bigger the effect.
Look afteryourself, and don't expect too much. I'm trying to just stay focussed on one day at a time.

She sounds like a bitch and you sound totally broken by her games. -

She sounds like a bitch and you sound totally broken by her games.Nah she isn’t. I needed some communication happening all round. Lots of people.
Just life. I have said many times that I am happy with the alternative but people don’t like that. I really don’t understand why. The one thing that I do have as my own, or so I thought. Apparently your life belongs to everybody else. Strange concept to me, but there you are.

Covid lockdowns are the shittest thing since shit sandwiches.
A dear friend passed away suddenly yesterday, one of those blokes who knew everyone and would have hundreds at the funeral. Can't even give the widow and family a visit, let alone a hug. God knows what the funeral will be like; memorial services in a few months just aren't the same.
I have no idea how we're going to work through the grieving process remotely, a lot of people will struggle (myself included). It just sucks.
No replies needed, just venting. It's a shit 24 hours that's getting shitter frankly.

Not at all. I just have a real low tolerance of stupid.

I don't usually visit this thread but it has made for some sobering reading. Kia kaha to all of the ferners doing it tough.
I will mirror some of the other comments about actions/ reactions and 'snippiness'. I fully take blame for some of the 'discussions'I have found myself in with an element of being tone deaf and decided a few days ago to keep well away from some threads for a while.
Never any intent to wind people up on my part but certainly some ham-fisted attempts to try and show other sides to the story that just poured fuel on the fire.
Those of you in lockdown areas are doing it way harder than those of us not and it's easy to not realise just how tough.
I daresay that if I had read this thread a few weeks ago I would have had a bit more understanding, so apologies to anyone that got pissed off at my posts. -

That sucks mate. My Mums best mate passed away last week. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 3 months ago and now gone. She turned really fast at the end and her son, who lives in Sydney, managed to get on a flight home but was still in MIQ so missed her.
Shitty times.
So bizarre, the doctors gave my mum 6 months to live, 12 if the treatment was successful, back in Sep-19, and here she is 24 months later having stopped all treatment more than 18mths ago. And this poor lady went in less than 3 after the diagnosis. Life is weird sometimes.
