I've ordered a table like this from Ikea. Perfect for family dinners.

I do fear that the stories coming out are far more positive than what is actually happening.
Everywhere you read it's Ukraine fight back, protests everywhere, Russian military deaths etc etc. It's by no means painting a rosey picture, but it seems to be rather positive.
Not really sure that's the truth myself.
-
@majorrage wait, you don't think the media apply editorial judgement and pick stories that align with their world view?
Russian military is not to be sneezed at. But the odd tank running out of petrol is fundamentally different to getting the strategic objectives they want. I hope Ukraine can hold out, but I don't know if we'll get the true picture in the open media.

A mate of mine is Swedish, and a bit of a war buff. He follows a few ex-officer types from Sweden who are doing a bit of blog work on the conflict, and one claims that between 70 and 85 of Russia’s 125 mechanized and armoured battalions have been rendered combat-ineffective. Basically the Ukraine has won. This has led to Belarus being forced into the war and shows why Russia has started indiscriminate terror bombing civilian centres with MLRS.
Reading that against the article above, it seems all is not peachy for Russia at this point.

hilarious that Smirnoff is being pulled from shelves
I am sure teenagers everywhere are devastated

@mariner4life i did see the trend of bars filming themselves pouring all the russian vodka out, i had to laugh, assuming they hadn't just filled the bottles with water...at some point they're just going to re buy the stuff...which will give "Russia" more money

It's quite clear to me that Russia hasn't tried in the conventional sense to actually attack Ukraine. They clearly have an overwhelming numerical advantage and their weaponry is at least as good as Ukraine's. They're not operating as combined arms battlegroups with air superiority. It looks like they may have thought an initial approach of "limit damage and casualties" would better suit their long-term plans. There's almost no other way to explain why they'd hold back most of their capability and send in recon units to skirmishes.

@mariner4life LOL, Smirnoff isn't even Russian.
