I think its the most appropriate thing the Herald has done in years.

What a crock. How about In n Out just open a proper restaurant already? 3 or 4 in Auckland even. Licence to print money
-
@taniwharugby I bet the ABs are sobbing into their Weetbix at this news.

Looked at that, and weighed up 2 hours in queue (it's alwyas a brutal queue) vs a burger. Decided not to, but god please open one here. Would be great.
There are great burgers around Auckland. Burger Geek was amazing (haven't been in a while though), and the one from Billy on Carlton Gore Road is exceptional. Maybe we need a burger thread

I've not been to in and out - what's so special about them that anyone would queue for two hours?
Is it in some way different to every other American fast food i.e. it magically has flavour and texture?
Two hours! I could go shopping for ingredients, fire up the BBQ, cook, assemble and eat the burger and wash it down with a few brews...
People are strange

“Haven’t been in a while though “
.....and there lies the issue with the food business in NZ.
Don’t get me wrong the behaviour is much the same elsewhere, but combined with our small population every time you don’t go (even on a few times a year treat) is a nail in the coffin. Then everyone moans that we don’t have something that they thought was great.
If you want something to stay you have to support it.Meanwhile I’m in the “who cares, I can make a better one myself” brigade. A few years of overpriced and underwhelming burgers in London has put me off anything not homemade. Even the supposedly amazing ones are just gimmicks.

Reasons not to visit the nations armpit #1256 . I suspect there’s more to this story than the people in the interview are letting on

That one happens to be just because it's a detour to get there - and they are interimittently open that doesn't help getting the family there. Got one initially because we were unusually in the area - but Auckland with traffic means if it's not where you live/work, it's got to be incrediballs to make the effort.

I've not been to this in and out burger, I probably should though...

Anyone prepared to queue that long for a burger is either insane, or on the verge of starvation.
Canberra (because the place is infested with retards) would queue for 45-60 mins or more for a Brodburger. A fucking hamburger and they were shit.
Just proof there's nothing to do if you're prepared to give up that amount of time in your life for a burger.

It's so fucking stupid. How many of those people would still queue if the prize at the end was $7 in coins? (Or whatever a burger costs)
It blows my mind.
If $7 is worth 2 hours of your time, go and get a fucking paper run.
