Disappointing that Young has once again failed to convert and get a huge score.

But he was man of the series against India and 42 and 60 is a very good double.

Conway is all at sea and I fear he has played his last test match. I can’t see him getting back in.

There won’t be a place for him in the middle order ( although Ravindra needs to live up to the hype a bit more ) and all this wicketkeeper talk is nonsense

Form may dictate whether Conway gets back in and the middle order is where he belongs with those technical issues.
Ravindra needs to buckle down, Mitchell has been up by and down. Phillips as well is not holding down a spot for me his fielding fell off as well as his batting 6 dropped catches really suprising for Phillips.as I was saying before the first test we should have started Santner it should have been for Southee but they used this series as a farewell tour.
Weight of runs and Conway can force his way back in,but for FFS sake Devon sort out your technical problems.

Ravindra is being touted as one of the next fab four of young batting superstars which is ridiculously premature.

The other three ( Brook, Mendis and Jaiswal ) have all started with a hiss and a roar. He has some work to do

Yeah, I presume he is unlikely to play any more Plunket Shield so not sure how he would ever prove himself again. Does he happen to play county cricket?

Conway has almost definitely played his last test.

Because he has become terrible, and when will he be able "to go away and work on his game"? During golf/rest days during the Emirates T20 , SA20 or the IPL? It's over for him as a test player. Presumably he'll still play some of the big ICC tournaments for NZ, but I see no path back to test cricket.

I guess technical faults that also impact his white ball game will get worked on, though. But theyve been apparent for a tear or more, and there's been no sign the last 12 months that he has it in him anymore.

The keeper talk is just ignorant, I'm afraid.

In the nets ,open wkt practices, using video analysis where every one works on technical issues of course. you don’t work on technical issues in a game you sort them out off field,
That where all the technical work is done not during games.

I think we won a series in England before the WTC which I think is only our second away win in England?).

Third. 86 and 99 the other two

The rain has started. I reckon there won't be any play until this afternoon. Only need 4 days anyway. 😉

Heard the stat this morning - that before yesterday - Henry had dismissed Crawley 4 times in the series for zero runs. Then yesterday he got 5 runs off Henry (after pumping 16 off Southee's first over) before he got him again.

5 dismissals, 5 runs, average of 1. Henry v Crawley this series.

I presume he hasn't made it past the opening spell yet this series. Meaning he has scored his other 42 runs in this series at an average of an infinity at the Southee end.

ON the flipside of above. Southee the opening bowler has taken the new ball 5 times in the 5 innings so far in this series for zero opening spell wickets.

Has taken his 4 wickets in the 53rd, 87th, 39th and 43rd overs. (So 1 wicket with the second new ball)

Something to keep in mind, along with the dropped catches, when assessing the series performances of the 3rd and 4th seamers (Smith and O'Rourke) who come on after him.

We really don't need stats to tell us what is staring us in the face and was oh so predictable.

Timee is a busted flush and has been for a couple of years. He's tarnished his record by selfishly sticking around and could conceivably have cost us this series.

Contrast his world farewell tour with the way Wags was unceremoniously cut adrift.

Will O’Rourke is a great team man.

I’m offended and outraged on his behalf that he was asked to be night watchman AGAIN after assisting Santner so effectively for some valuable runs.

Oh, and the difference in quality when he came to bowl after Southee was just ridiculous too.

Captain obvious alert, but having failed to get a wicket in the first innings, it's now official that Southee won't get to 400 test wickets. Best he can do is 399, but the way he's bowling he'll be lucky to get 390.

O'Rourke is looking like a real monster in the making. Hopefully he continues to improve. I assume he'll be the new ball partner for Henry but who knows what Stead is thinking.

Getting the top two batsmen in the world like he did is the stuff dreams are made of.

Whilst it was sensational getting Brook for a golden the cricket fan in me was slightly disappointed, I’d washed out the bbq area ready for Xmas and taken a break purely so I could watch him bat given he’s the most exciting player in the world right now.

Reminded me of the time I headed to the basin years ago to see Lara bat but once I heard on the radio he’d gone cheaply I went to the pub instead.

Ravindra currently on 6 off 37. Is this what we've been asking for?

If he goes on to score big then taking his time at the beginning of his innings might not be a bad move. Will see if that happens though.

Batting time is advantage to NZ. The longer their openers run around in the field the harder it is to bat. Slow is fine- there's 3 days to go still

Ravindra winding up now, dont know if instructed or just feeling he is in finally, hopefully not needlessly aggressive which tends to lend to the easy dismissal. Kane in the nervous 90s, 220/3
