@jegga just not yet...
Whenever I see/hear Bridges he comes across like he's trying far too hard to be likable and does not sound genuine.
Simon Bridges looks like someone who talks about themself in the third person.
Having met the pistonwristedgibbon I can confirm that he actually does do this
-
Simon 'take another pic' Bridges is a vain and vapid gel-slick fuckface. He was always about the photo ops and the catering as minister of transport, and every time was a giant hassle thanks to his diva demands and last minute invites/cancelling/changing of plans. EVERY TIME. When the email would arrive that he wanted to cut this ribbon or pose with the spade or digger or whatever at this location, my colleagues used to near-weep. And I thanked all deities that I managed internal comms rather than external or ministerial.

see, it's not hard to see why you are a writer for a living. Fucking poetry

What is it with politicians being horrible people? Even dealing at extremely low almost purely social/club levels I see a mind blowing level of ego and desperation for power by any means. Principles don't seem to mean a thing, very much a 'do as I say not as I do mentality' very disheartening.

Which is what makes people bitching about Trumps charctrer just so fucking hilarious. Oh boo hoo is so unpleasant and an ego maniac? Yes and? All politicians are like that! He just doesnt bother hiding it.
Bridges is a twat btw.. and his wife is even worse IMO, so arrogant and entitled when I was having to deal with her. -

@jegga surely she'd be able to provide evidence of the texts or something?
She tried the same thing with the death threats she says she got, no substance provided at all . You’d think if you went to Interpol about it you’d be able to show the correspondence?

our politicians are retards...National have had a great opportunity over the past 6 months to really drill the Labour coalition who have stumbled through thier own crisis and other issues, yet National are somehow gonna come out looking like the bigger bunch of dickheads!
Nice one Stu!
-
@taniwharugby Yep - Labour have lurched from one disaster to another, and Bridges has been trotting from photo op to photo op and waving his kids at the camera. I mean the dude has a record low preferred PM rating, not sure why National are persisting with him when it is obvious he doesn't connect with people anywhere the way Jacinda does. He's a fucking idiot to try and play the cutesie happy clappy role. Meanwhile, Winny is sitting back and helping himself to everything, and he couldn't even win his own seat.

Apart from the fact that they are all out of coalition partners, National have a big problem now. Who do they have that can mount a credible challenge to Starbrite? All of the old guard are too tarnished, I like Crusher but she doesn't have the appeal. I don't know if they have anyone ready to go. I was all for an Adams Kaye ticket to pit Jacinda with double the women, including the one who beat her twice in general elections
-
@canefan Is the TAB giving odds for next PM? A sneaky few bucks on Crusher might be a decent punt you know. I get that she’s about as likeable as your school dental nurse, but she makes the rest of the current crop of pols look like boys among men. Maybe she’s tarnished but I never could muster a care about the Oravida thing and there may be a good few like me who prefer a competent bastard to the incompetent saint we’ve got now.

She is by far the most capable person they have. It's just a question as to whether she can win over the public or not
-
@canefan Yep. It is a problem, and trying to fight Starbrite fire with fire is never going to gain them anything. They are fools to try. Bridges doesn't have any of Jacinda's natural warmth and connection with people (which is the only thing she has quite frankly) and it is very disappointing that the National party have rolled over and played kitten when Labour have given them so much fodder to be an attack tiger with. Jacinda doesn't deserve a pass for anything job-wise, and as long as they keep the fight above the belt so to speak and focus on politics/policy, they could have made hay with all the fuck ups. But no, they decided to try and out-cute her with Woman's Day cover shoots and baby pics. Epic fail.
The old guard will all be seen as out of touch now. And I think it is Crusher's personality rather than her past that will exclude her - against Jacinda she will be seen as too abrasive and unlikable, however competent. If National had wanted to actually fight fire with fire, they would have gone with Adams, or started grooming Kaye for a more senior position. They won't win with Bridges, who is doing a pretty piss-poor job overall, and this leaks saga is only making everyone look bad.
