Gerry confirmed as deputy.
Wouldn't be my choice. Doesn't really scream fresh does he?
Not really - safe pair of hands I think.
I personally think it's too late for safe. In the current environment image is everything and stuffy white guy isn't gonna resonate with the voters
-
So the Nats are copying Labour’s election strategies? Cunliff, Little, Taxinda lose the vote, add Winston = win!
Does Collins get on better with the old crook? They seem cut from the same cloth.
Hope Muller is ok, would be doubly bad news to get bad health news and lose your dream job.

We aren’t American, we can avoid looking at everything through the myopic view of race.
Anyway, who cares who is deputy, we have the correct gender for the woke brigade as leader.

I just think Adams is smart enough. He probably won't sat much anyway. And what's wrong with a little more woke for those who care?

Matters less for the deputy, especially since the leader is a female - the deputy doesn't seem to get judged the same way.

Fair call. But if they get caught in a pissing contest about minorities and women, it would be nice to have it in reserve. And Adams is liberal, good for the swing voters

@canefan said in NZ Politics:
So who will they pick now? I don't see anyone who harbours serious designs on being leader longterm wanting this. Mitchell? Adams? Crusher? The outlook is bleak
Would love to see Crusher gave a crack. But I reckon she thinks losing the election rules her out going forward. Reckon she's lining up the next one.
My opinion is she'd get a good run at both.
But perhaps she doesn't want to be seen to lose one.

I do think Collins is a fairly good choice. Tough, which she is going to need most trying to wrangle the factions of the fractured Nats together. Soimon supporters, Muller supporters, those who don't like her, those who want a fresh face...gonna be a bit of a nightmare. All while being Judith rather than Crusher. Good luck to her. Too bad she won't be able to offer baby or wedding pics.
-
Fighting words from Crusher, so much more assured in front of the press than Todd

Sounds cruel but I’d love to see how Crusher would go as leader.
Either way the millions that will be spent on this years election does seem like a waste of money now.
Go me, in a politics thread of all places too
