Schmidt totally outcoaching Hansen. They are dominating the lineout, using the maul, using the choke tackle (not exactly novel tactics), kicking well - into touch. Picking a 6 at lock has turned out to be a shocker from Steve.

We can turn around 17 points but we need to sharpen up rapidly.

    Sickening.

Both our locks are basically lose forwards, tuipolotu just as ineffective as Kaino
Pretty easy to see why Romano is continually picked ahead of him

Biggest winner from an NZ perspective from this half is big Dom Bird.

Too many players offering up rubbish today. Of all the games to be embarrassing, a showcase game against a team who have never beaten us.

@Billy-Tell dont thnk he has been out coached...we are just not playing well

Think we will see Scott make his debut pretty promptly if not straight from half time.

TJ shouldnt be far away either.

We have turned over way too much possession with lineout loses, mauls, in touch, penalties and a very poor kicking game. No way you can win when you give away so much possession.

    Lineout needs some work ...

Ireland playing well. Not giving away possession.

    We are though.

Not sure of the fix apart from perhaps Barrett to try to fix the lineout.

I'm almost resigned to this one now.

But being a NZer you only write the ABs off when we're 3 tries down with 30s left ...

I don't mind the Kaino at lock option, but paired with a lock who is rarely ever used as a lineout option for the ABs is not good.

Kaino is playing poorly though around the track. As is Read.

It would be nice if we could just build some pressure with ball in hand rather than just going wide from the get go.

And hard to win when tackling is also optional

I guess playing Sam and BBBR 80 minutes every week without developing a backup lock that can start a test has hurt us a bit here. We had to go for our impact lock and a loosie and they've both struggled. Our lineout has cost us good ball and possesion at crucial moments.

we are losing the battle at lineout time, at the breakdown, territory and in the air...and the most important one, on the scoreboard.

Irish fully deserving of thier lead, in fact they probably deserved to be beyond 3 scores.

At least we didn't play this badly vs Australia. For some reason I don't feel that bad losing to Ireland who to be fair have outplayed us easily.

    Halftime stats:

We've only lost 3 of our own lineouts? Seemed more.

Possession. Ire 63% to NZ 37%

    Turnovers 7 to 1.

    Only territory relatively even.

They should have replaced Retallick and Whitelock, with Barrett and Bird.
Kaino should have started at 6; Todd at 7.
TJ should have started at 9, ALB at 13.
They should have replaced Julian with Naholo, not Dagg.

The Romano bereavement took out that third option.

WTF is going on in the lineouts ?

I think I read we are missing a couple of locks to injury...

Yeah sure that will weaken things, but I dont buy that as an excuse for how bad they went

A week of enjoying themselves hasn't helped with their focus. Hard to blame them though considering the run, even Ab's need some time off. I think.

Coles is a great player but I feel we need a hooker who plays a bit tighter and closer to the rucks for this type of game . Am not sure if Taylor is that man though.

I'd really love some more Facebook images of them enoying themselves at the basketball and at a day off with Addidas. If only they hadn't been buried in all the training field images...

Flush that first half down the dunny.

We can still win from here, a couple of quick tries and we're right back in it.
We still have the players who have specialised in scoring quick tries back to back to back, they haven't got shit overnight, they just need to play some smarter rugby.

Optimistic still, but that might change very quickly if we pick up where we left off....

Foster summed it up. We need to win lineouts and improve discipline.
