    Yeah, this is terrible - amazing the positive nature he seems to have about the whole thing given he was such a competitor during his playing days.

    Thoughts are certainly with him and those close to him. Gutting to see the pictures of him.

    45 is way too soon. MND is a grim path for anyone, but particularly cruel for an athlete. RIP Joost, one of the greats imho. Not necessarily a "classic" scrumhalf, but an absolute warrior.

    Without a doubt one of the games greats both on and off the field, and same as @taniwharugby one of my all time favourites. Very sad to hear. RIP.

    Yep Kruger. He was a fucken hardass if I recall. Another bloke of similar ilk from that era ( Andre Venter ) is also not well at all.

    Kruger wasn't big by SA loose forward standards but he was tough.

    Out of the 3 players he actually was the youngest (39 yrs) when he died after a long battle with brain cancer in 2010.
