@No-Quarter I've already changed my Facebook profile pick to a WINZ logo in support

@mariner4life liar....just jumping on the bandwagon, low bro, low!
-
So, now TC Cook is having a crack at NZ, and coming with a huge rep of looking at throwing some of the worst shit at NZ since the Wahine...
Majority of country already water logged, which I expect will make it worse by putting more water through already overloaded infrastructure.
Cyclone Cook is now within 500km of Cape Reinga at 8pm. Winds are expected to pick up overnight. Cook is expected to pass Northland to the east between 10am and 2pm Thursday.

Not to mention how it may affect the rugby.
Yeah, there will be some areas that don't drain the best and will still have their cups full from Debbie. Get to high ground or get your ark ready seems the best advice.
Man, Coromandel will be a mess after all this. Wouldn't want to be that regional council. Seems like every time they get stuff rebuilt from the last storm another comes along.

They have cancelled my kids school for tomorrow... which is a bit disconcerting.
I have tied down the tramp... but I might put another rope or 2 on.... -

I have tied down the tramp... but I might put another rope or 2 on....Don't you think you should leave her a means of escape should the water level rise?
-
@Baron-Silas-Greenback stay safe!
We had 55mm last night from the other system in the Ta$man, with the edges of Cook due to hit mid to late morning.
I bought some tie down things for the tramp (after the tramp ended up in neighbors paddock 3 years ago) but man they suck to put in, as well as securing the chicken houses, but it's my garden shed I put up when we built that is a concern with the gale winds possibly hitting directly into it when it is usually pretty sheltered from most wind directions.
-
Could you flip the tramp or something so it doesn't have as much surface area to get picked up? Or do you have one with the kid cage around it?
Wellington is pretty trippy today with heaps of fog- it's still but you know what they say about the calm before the storm. My brother, his partner and 3 month old fly in from Melbs at 11.30 tonight. The storm is meant to hit us after 2am or so but Mum's anxiety levels are high!!
Stay safe all!

Warnings not to come into Akl's CBD and that Harbour bridge may close.
Really glad chose to take a long weekend A fortnight ago rather than go away at Easter - even if I did have water halfway up the car as I drove through the State Highway lake on the way back. Good to know the Audi's doors are watertight.
Can't believe the reaction of some customers when you say you are cancelling their afternoon delivery today....
Sent most people home for an early start to the Easter weekend.

I'm supposed to fly from Wellington to Hamilton at 2pm today. I'll be surprised if that flight still goes ahead . . .
Maybe.
I was expected to fly when all of the buses, trains and taxis were shut down for typhoons in Hong Kong. So it wasn't safe to get to the airport by any means of transport, but it was O.K to get in an aeroplane...Things have improved slightly because the airlines realise that if people can't get to the airport they have no passengers, so it is a safety consideration, not a commercial one. Apparently considering the closure of the Harbour Bridge...
-
have fun guys, hope you stocked up on all the bread and milk you could lay your grubby mits on...
Actually, the main cyclone prep is ensure you have a gas bottle, and lots of ice and beer. Stay dry.

Harden up. It's just a little bit grey out there at the moment.
Eerily still too.
Just texted my mate that I think we're going to be the guinea pig flight for Hamilton. Pilot: "Reckon it's windy up there? Suppose we'll find out once we steer this fucker over Otorohonga!"
As I said on Twitter, it could be worse - I could be on an overbooked United flight.
