@taniwharugby I think mouthguards are compulsory at all levels but as I mentioned a lot of NZ Super rugby players don't wear them.

Headgear only protects your ears and head from scratches/sprig marks, not concussion. Mouthguards are the main preventative safety measure against concussion.

    True.

My understanding is that headgear is actually quite bad for concussion, because it tends to increase the pressure effect of any swelling.

Boxing is in the process of banning headgear. And that's the boxing type that actually has enough padding to reduce the force of a blow, which the rugby ones don't really.

Tongan Thor, what a silly nickname, they should name him Tongan fat fuck. What's Thor about him, doesn't look athletic or hammer-wielding to me

He's got lisp and it's how he feels after scums?

Mouthguards don't do anything close to preventing concussion. The ACC are due to launch a campaign educating against this myth but need to tread carefully as they still want people wearing moutguards to prevent against dental injuries.

They are a cluster fuck of the highest order. Garnered some inside info today which I won't divulge. But, things are even worse than I thought.

One thing I will say is that an ex-league, ex-AFL, recent coke snorter is held in very high regard. That tells you something.

For all the early reputation of being super-skilled he really never lived up to much did he?

The guy has nice vision for passing and that's about it. Especially when every good thing he creates is undone by another 2 pieces of shit.

It's been so long since that was seen I forgot about it.

Compared to backs like BB, JB, DMac he's just an average Joe

He may be now, but he wasn't back then. In 2011 he had a game that really suited the Reds - he was dynamic with ball in hand, creative and a damn good goal kicker. Worked magic with Genia to drag a Reds outfit close enough and fall over a line with some (interesting) refereeing decisions. But still, a title's a title.

I may boo Quade enthusiastically, and he hasn't been good for a while, but like Genia at one stage he was seriously classy.

Agree with this, also he got off to a really shit start in the 2011 rwc but actually had a pretty good game after which surprised me . Can'y say the same about Bonocock who was completely outthought.

That was classic Henry - and exposes an unbalanced loose trio. Run at the fetcher, and get them out of the game. Woudln't work so well now with Hooper there too, but at the time was genius (and very effective)

How is Taranaki working out as being in Chiefs territory?

Might be wrong, but my impression is that the Taranaki players head more to Canes country.

Both the Chiefs and Canes would have a similar number of Taranaki reps but if you exclude the Barretts, Tahuriorangi and the unsighted Halafihi are the only Taranaki players who have signed with the Canes after the change. That's not so important now anyway with the way the 5 teams contract players. Obviously the promising Taranaki age-group players are now selected for the Chiefs U18s, U20s, Development team etc.

Michael Collins (Taranaki CEO) was interviewed before the Reds game and was asked how the change has gone. He was up front and said the main reason for moving to the Chiefs was a guarantee of hosting Super games, which the Canes wouldn't provide. Collins also said they aren't going to tell the supporters which team to support but that the younger fans tended to be Chiefs supporters.

@Unco Rennie was happy enough. Solid would be my assessment. Harris will get better with time on the park, and will provide a good combo with Elliot.
