Damn, it's troubling when news comes out to say a person who has just caused agony to so many people and families was known to authorities.
I'm all for civil liberties...but fuck. If someone is behaving in a very odd manner and doing a whole bunch of things that hardcore twinge the terrorist antenna, then greater good and protection of innocents should always take precedence.
Known to the police is just something that sounds good in the media. In reality the police are keeping quiet tabs on a very large amount of people.

For everyone who has ever pointed at Infowars & gone "sure hes a little nuts, but he says some good stuff"
"bombing a bunch of liberal trendies"
Twelve children under the age of 16 were among the 59 casualties. the first confirmed death was an 8 year old girl.
Maybe next time before you post literally anything from Alex Jones, think that over again....

And this is why I never listen to anything you post on politics. Fake post.
You completely selectively quoted him and were triggered by a few words instead of listening to his point. Did you grab that from a liberal site where they were all criticising him?
I don't even care for him, I have no opninion on him. -

It is obvious what he is saying.. and you are thin ice with that post Gollum

Amber Rudd has criticised US security services for leaking information relating to the Manchester terror attack with the Home Secretary warning Washington it must not happen again. A number of details including the identity of the attacker and the death toll entered the public domain in the immediate aftermath of the suicide bombing with the information reportedly leaked by security officials in America.
Ms Rudd described those leaks as “irritating” as she said that the UK had told its key security ally to stop releasing information which British police do not want publicly known.

It's a good example of the warped world-view, priorities, and disregards for facts that Alex Jones operates with. This is a pop singer who appeals to a lot of young children and teens, several of which died. It wasn't an attack on the recent concert featuring a speech by Corbyn.

@gollum who posts anything from Alex Jones on here except to point and laugh?
Red Terror used to post crap from info wars to back up what he was posting. Outside of him I can't think of anyone who doesn't see him as lying shill.

Agree with this . I can't see a problem with pointing out how awful what he said is?

I think she should have bigger things to be 'irritated' about.

Utterly soul destroying act of complete and utter cowardice, by an individual who is forever going to be worshipped by few, but loathed to the very core by the maximum majority.
I'm not going to criticise islam here. This act is nothing but pure proof that this group, and it's followers, soldiers, caliphates, whatever, are the worst people to walk this planet since nazi germany. Push political/religous ideologies .... ok, think your bananas and don't agree or understand, but can have some sort of feeling as to how you make your position. Have children caught in the crossfire - anger about it, but again, accept that will always be part of war/battles.
But deliberately target children? At a concert? I can't comprehend it. I just can't.
I fear world war 3 has started.

Whilst I understand what you mean it is likely that she is "miffed" about those other things. it's a step up you know.
Seriously though, if the information was passed on to US security officials with a request to keep it under wraps and it was leaked, deliberately or otherwise, she has a right to express her annoyance. Probably of more importance than Rudd's irritation though is what this is saying about the US security services. Firstly, can it still be trusted by it's allies after the previous issue? Or secondly is there a deliberate attempt by people within the US security services that wish to paint the current regime untrustworthy? Either way these are big issues.

Why? Unless I have it wrong the name etc was leaked before the Brits were able to conduct and complete raids on associates. Operationally that was a dumb thing to do.

I know there is another thread on Islam etc and I have avoided it as much as possible as there are too many posts I think are bordering on bigotry that would lead me into endless arguments . However there are a few comments regarding this situation that have ignored (or been unaware of some facts)
It is still being worked out how and when this fuckwit was radicalised but it certainly wasn't through either his family or mosque who are both aggressively anti-radical. A few of his fellow mosque attendees are now regretting that they didn't place enough gravitas on his behaviour after they had given anti-radical speeches and he had 'stared daggers' at them. Reported also is that his father is very vocally anti-radical and will be devastated by what has happened at the actions of his own son.

Some good talking points here, I really respect Maajid Nawaz. Don't agree with everything he says but I love the way he's been open to honest and robust debates with a variety of people. It's been interesting to see how his views have evolved over the years.

I think it'd be worth spending some time looking at the various forms of Islam before absolving it of criticism. What ISIS follows is a fundamental version of Sunni Islam based on Salafi Jihadism and Wahhabism. Basically they are all about the restoration of the caliphate of early Islam - I.E. 7th century type shit. It is stated that the Koran is the literal word of Allah and is not open to interpretation - and that is what they stand by. They believe that Sharia Law should be the law of the land, and that other Muslims that do not follow Islam in this way must be "purged of apostasy" (killed) which is why the vast majority of their victims are other Muslims in their vicinity. Their entire goal is to spread Islam to the ends of the earth by any means neccessary, and that the day of judgement is near.
This form of Islam is most common in the Gulf states like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which is why people like @gollum have been at pains to point out that these countries are at the heart of the problem - investing many millions of dollars erecting Mosques etc in other countries to spread this ideology. Which is why I was so angry in my first post in this thread - we turn a blind eye to this occuring (Tommy Robinson has been beating this drum for more then a decade and just gets called a racist) and then we turn around and ask retarded questions like "why is this happening?" and "how did he get radicalised?".
Right now they are actively targeting South East Asia and there have been more and more issues arising there, and from an NZ POV that's a lot closer to home.
Islam is a shitty religion, it really is, it is not just this form of Islam that inspires human rights abuses the world over, but if we are talking about terrorist attacks specifically then that form of Islam should be the focus. But either way - all of this falls under the Islam umbrella so to try and say "not Islam" is incorrect and unhelpful.
But instead of people actually educating themselves and having any kind of meaningful debate about it, the majority of people would rather pick a side (left or right) and argue with each other. And the virtue signalling is fucking vomit inducing.

Don't vilify me, I'm not trying to score points but this has effected me more than the Manchester bombing:
http://forum.planetrugby.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=79589&sid=889b953d83eccb2e4ae1acf522a3f690
Both reports are completely fucked up and i wish we'd cease calling them terrorists and start with what they are "cowardly murderers".
But the poor buggers in the kiwi soldier's tale live this day in and day out from people of their same religion and culture.
I know it's not a contest but how would it be if the poor souls in Mosul got the worldwide attention and rage and sympathy of those in western countries.
It might unite us all against these cowardly murdering shitbags.
To me this isn't a fight about ideologies, it's a fight against a very small sector of dead set fluffybunnies.
