World Rugby had a particularly excellent Yuletide treat up their sleeve this Christmas for rugby fans.

There’s a few pity mentions in there, he’s always been a charitable sort of bloke.

I've asked himself about this on the bucket thread ...

Stupidest / dumbest question ever asked.

    @jegga

Thanks for the link. I watched the whole thing. Some comments made me laugh out loud. He has a very modest subtle dry sense of humour.

When the iso-camera is on he calls Michael Cheika “the Australian coach.”

    where did you watch it?

My FB vids have been stuttery as hell recently, pisses me off watching stuff on there (about 8 mins in and already thrown the kids out of home)

McCaw’s a legend and all but if I had to choose between watching paint dry or listening to McCaw the paint might just win. Sort of an actions speaks louder than words type of fella.

I've never read a more exciting book about gliding. Or a more boring one.....

Travelled Air France long haul recently and the RWC final was one of the entertainment options. Watched the entire thing. What was really odd about that game was that Aus was still in it even up to the B Smith card. It really was a dominant performance and the ABs should have been up by much more at half time. Their composure after the Kuraindrani try (which was bloody good btw) was awesome though. Aus barely fired a shot after that.

I would have thought the same thing. Until I watched it. Sure, he doesn’t get especially hyperactive and exciteable. But there’re funny moments when he supports his own teammates.

DC misses a penalty kick to touch.

“It would have been good if that went out, to be fair.”

(And let’s face it — the fingernails he clips into the rubbish-bin know more about playing test match rugby than any of us ever will, so, I pay attention to the great man.)

@salacious-crumb I think he said something similar to "Interesting option" when Read did an up and under. I liked his dry humor.

    I really enjoyed that.

It was pretty hard for players from either side to get singled out for praise from Richie. Only Read, Carter, Retallick and maybe Whitelock got repeated compliments. Ben Smith too, because of his ability to chase a high ball means you can do up and unders in the opposition half whereas normally that's a poor option. Oh, and Kaino as a defensive monster. When discussing SBW coming on at halftime he said he's not a bad guy to bring on because he attracts a hell of a lot of attention from the opposition.

On the Wallaby side he singled out Folau, Hooper and Pocock as players that they had to work around. Folau, because of his ability under the highball, and Hooper and Pocock at the breakdown.

He mentioned he rates the Wallabies as a set piece team, I think he said because they can get the ball in and out as a quickly as possible.

yeah I liked watching it with him talking us through it as well, gives a different perspective, shows a bit of humour which we probably never got to see with him so serious always when playing.

Wonder if he was asked to do one of the 2007 match...

Call me crazy (an idiot even!) for thinking that people who frequent a website called “The Silver Fern” might actually enjoy re-watching a winning World Cup final without any stress, and listening to comments from The Greatest Player To Ever Lace Up A Pair Of Boots. Completely bonkers.

Nah, believe it was cancelled that year as the standard of refereeing wasn't up to scratch.
