The mrs is into her trail walking and anything that’s a big challenge ( she’s done a couple of 100km Oxfam trail walks in recent years)
She heard about this ultra marathon over in the states called the Barkley’s Marathon. It’s had a doco made about it on Netflix called “The Race that Eats it’s Young “
Fuck me you would have to mad to take this on. It’s basically 5 x loops of a course that you never find out about until the day before the race starts, the loop is around 26 miles ( a full Marathon) but the elevation you climb is around 12,000 feet. It’s through the worse terrain you can imagine. There’s no check points except when you complete each loop. Only 40 can enter and most years no one ever finishes. Been going over 30 years and to date only around 15 or so have completed it.
Well worth the watchLoved it

@virgil I think this guy was trying to do the three lap "fun run" version!
‘Fun run’ indeed, that’s only 3 x loops
I read the 2018 Barkley was completed with no one being able to finish the full race.
Not surprising given how tough it is, more on the side of how the organisers play with the entrants mindsThat made me Wiki it and I love how informal yet definite it is.

It’s nuts alright, the total elevation you end up covering is equivalent to climbing Mt Everest!
You couldn’t even properly prepare for it as you would have no idea on the course.
The wife would give it a shot in a heartbeat if she could.
Having been part of her support for 2 x 100km trail walks I’m a bit unsure about this one.. -

I was looking at that trailer today. I'm a Queen fan so will watch it once it's released to video. This is certainly going to be a different movie (and likely a more sanitized version) to the one that Sacha Baron Cohen would have starred in.

I saw a Howard Stern interview with Cohen, the version he was offered had Freddie die halfway through the movie, the rest being about Queen after that.
I don’t think we missed much from that screenplay.

The other difference was how much of Freddie's lifestyle was included.

Yeah I suspect SBCs version woulda included a shitload more arse banditry.
Whether Freddie did this in real life or not.
Never much of a Queen fan but I suspect the Mrs will make me watch this in exchange for me dragging her to Solo.

I went to see Deadpool 2 tonight. I enjoyed it better than the first movie. No Stan Lee cameo though.
They had a poster of him I think, might have passed into Stan Lee homage territory now he’s 95.
I know some of the Marvel movies have pre-recorded some cameos.
That said, he just fired off a billion dollar lawsuit against his old company so obviously not done living yet.

Deadpool 2 was awesome. I had listened to a somewhat negative review from Mark Kermode earlier in the day and quite frankly I think he saw a completely different movie from the one I saw.
It was funny, had good action, NZ got name checked, the second credit scenes as mentioned by Kirwan were hilarious, Domino is hot, the original X Force scenes were also hilarious.

The x force stuff was so unexpected too.

Red Sparrow - J-Law as a Russian spy.
J-Law gets the girls out, all but full nudity.
Decent enough storyline, 3.5 double agents out of 5 torturing cnuts

@taniwharugby Prior to the fappening, that would have been a consideration. Now, meh. Your rating suggests rainy Sunday viewing and there's a backlog for that.

The Snowman
Burnt out cop investigates a series of murders in which the killer leaves a creepy looking Snowman at the scene. Interesting idea and a couple of good gross out moments but boring as all fuck with some weird pointless random scenes and the fact I worked out who the killer was really early in the piece didn't help either.
1.5 Michael Fassbenders out of 5 Val Kilmers.
