I hope that guy finds footage of Spencer's five try haul against Otago in a semifinal game.

If you want to see Canterbury, some prick has found footage of the last second penalty kick to achieve a 15-15 draw in the 82 shield game against Counties.

I see he left out the build up to the penalty where Robert Kuhurangi was sprinting away in the clear for a shield winning try but in the background the ref is pocketing a $50 note and blowing his whistle for a non existent offside.

If you haven't discovered the excellent FB page NPC Rugby History (https://www.facebook.com/npcrugby/) or don't FB at all you are missing some great old clips the remind you of the difference between old school rugby and the current pro game.

I had to make this thread just to post this...

Fats, Lomu, Jim Coe, Errol Brain, a young (and thin) looking Merts for the losing side and some fine rucking.

Best wing pair in provincial rugby history.

( I mean Jonah and Joeli btw, not whoever was playing for Canterbury )

What's the best pakeha winger pairing in provincial history? Wright and Kirwan?

Terry was my hero. Skinny legs are built for speed.

Long range tries were always on with him and SJK on the field.

Here's a pretty sweet highlight reel of him.

Even in the amateur days I'm not sure how he managed to stay in one piece. He was an absolute whippet.

@mn5 one of those old leather balls when wet woulda almost outweighed him!

Shame the footage is such low quality of some of those older games.

Before there was BFA there was Terry from accounts, a real accountant!

Jeez that Auckland team played a sweet brand of footy. Probably my all time favourite team, and I am a fucking Cantab.

    I miss daytime games.

Love watching how perfect that backline timing was when they just went through the hands to Wright on the outside. Angled at 45degrees and every man hitting the pass at speed.
TW had that ability to genuinely beat a marker on the outside. For a winger there is no sweeter feeling

Was at this game and the brutal Auckland v harbour game they also have on there.

Harbour backs on fire vs Canterbury. Was one of the best ever wins I saw there

A great Counties team. It should have had more All Blacks, only had 2 with Jonah the only regular. All time greats in that Counties team. A great crowd on the embankment. I was there with Family on the grass bank on the Grandstand side.

@mariner4life What is crazy is that as soon as the ball left Bachops hands I could remember that try clearly - I probably can't remember single AB tries this year.

@bovidae some of his work with those little kicks was magic, literally had the ball on a string.

Was it him or Cully that did the 'bounce pass' to the other for a try?

how the hell did we get Goldie, Cullen and Lomu in the team at the same time? That's not fair!

And then Osbourne and Umaga at the same time as well.
