MN5 mentioned no Lando. Does that also mean no Wedge? That's pretty farked up. I mean all they did was bring down the entire farking death star.

Interesting bit of trivia: the dude who played Wedge is Ewen McGregors uncle.

I think the science of the movies is easier to believe than the fact that despite the levels of fanboidom displayed on this thread these same fanboys have not only managed to find a woman and in some cases procreate with them .

Sky has just announced that they are putting on a dedicated sci fi channel as part of their basic package at no extra cost .

Yeah... thats why Lucas kept the merchandising rights & became a billionaire on them. Because he sold millions of chewbacca toys to 30 year olds... just like all the mercandise sold for The Godfather, Chinatown, Jaws.

I still have my Godfather horse head I got when I was 8.

It was a kids movie, it played for weeks at my local cinema & every saturday it was full of 8-15 year olds watching it for the 4th, 5th time then going home & playing lightsabre with the vacuum handle. That was the huge issue with the prequels, they went after (and very much hit) the same audience, but the original fans had grown up.

And I'll be fucked if I start basing my entertainment around the opinions of recluse shut in obsessive nerds. Fuck those guys. And fuck the way they over think everything and then whinge

You are living in the dark ages, nerds are mainstream now, almost everything you probably fangasm over is a nerd focused property, 20 years ago comics, cartoons, manga, wearing a superman shirt, coding a computer - nerds. Now Avengers, Big Bang Theory, Elon Musk, Akira, Comic Con rule the world.

Next years movies are driven by shit like Comic Con, no major hollywood blockbuster skips it, movies are recut at huge expense if comic con pans it, stuff like Kick Ass got a huge marketying puish purely because comic con loved iot so much, prior to that it was half the budget. Have you ever been to CC? Its fricking nerd central. I walked round thinking "I'm the weird one here because I'm not dressed like Bobba Fett, 20 years ago all these kids would have been beaten up daily at school, now they are posting all this online & getting 1000's of likes"

Almost every major movie now is accompianied by an AMA on reddit targeting exactly that audience, massive stars court them, Robert Downey Jr reinvented his career embracing nerds, Stark is based on Elon Musk, one of the greatest nerds of his generation. Jobs & Wozniak are regarded as legends, Gates is approaching sainthood. Zuckerberg had a massive movie made about him.

You wont "start" basing your entertainment around the opinions of nerds. You already do, you just hadn't realised it. Every major blockbuster you love now has been written, vetted, poured over & rewitten by & because of those nerds you are disparaging.
Because those nerds who got beaten up as kids now make the decisions and have the money. It's why all the "old" shit like TMNT is back.

And Gates isn't approaching sainthood for his nerdiness - his company was widely despised even though it made the world go round. You can't question the man's intentions when it comes to using his personal wealth and influence for charity though.

True, he's approaching sainthood for what he's doing with his money, not for MS. But no one would have seen that a few years back when he was the go-to laugh at nerd.

Really if you look at the guys today that are having a massive influence on the world its guys like Gates (disease cure & prevention), Musk (the future of cars, space flight), Zuckerberg & Brin (privacy, communication, cars again), Salman Khan (education), nerds galore.

The Tudors rocked. What do you mean it wasn't historically accurate?

Well yeah talk about unsung heroes, both of them. Their work in the final battle was extraordinary, not to mention Wedges work aiding Luke in another couple of major battles.

But since neither actor has been mentioned I guess I've just kinda accepted it and moved on.

Actor that plays Lando is not a well man, and Wedge was offered a small role but said no.

I remember seeing Billy Dee in a guest starring role on NCIS. He looked pretty old. As for Wedge, he told his nephew Ewen McGregor not to join the Star Wars franchise and by all accounts he didn't enjoy the experience, so I'm not surprised

Naaa never seen the show so you'll just have to imagine it, the theme tune alone was enough to make me turn it off but I do recall channel surfing and checking out the blond when she was in her pjs though so that got me watching for a few minutes.
