@MN5 think you should venture past Auckland one day bro, did you know there was a whole other island below Wellington too:?

Were plenty of hot chicks about in my teens, plenty of bimbos, plenty of slappers, just not all in the same person!

Was in Auckland last week and somehow got 68 Tinder matches in one evening. I think all the sluts up there knew fresh meat when they saw it.

You could spam this thread with Bundy all day, this is one of the absolute classic scenes....

68! So it's not just the Blues who have problems scoring....

Does anyone remember watching the TV show Ark II when they were a kid? (Just noticing the Logan's Run TV show in the OP now reminded me of it). It had a bunch of people riding around in future vehicle and one of the dudes had a jet pack. I probably only remember it because of the jetpack.

Also, does anyone remember a show about British kids who go places on a magic carpet and there's some bird (as in actual bird not female human)?

He explained that he was frustrated at not being able to get a box set together, and spoke about what was delaying it.

Seemed stoked that I was so keen on getting it.

Wasn’t expecting to get any replies, so was pretty happy.

Took another three or four years for it to come out.

@Nepia The Phoenix and the Carpet? Hated it. Poor man’s HR Pufnstuf. To be fair I was a teenager so not really the target demographic, but we only had one channel so there was no alternative and its presence offended me.

That might be it, I remember being much younger than a teenager and we had two channels so I don't think its presence offended me.

@Nepia Up in our part of Whangarei we didn’t get TVNZ 2 until 1978. It meant that some of the first shows on that channel were 2+ years into their run, or we missed them altogether. Starsky and Hutch was one that we never got to see at all. Saw it rerun much later and decided I hadn’t missed much.

That show must have been mega delayed then as I didn't see it until the 80s - or they had the rights to show it and just kept repeating it.

But nearly all our tv shows were delayed then, some by years.

There was a weird as fuck show called Sapphire and Steel around then. I think it was a bit ahead of its time

British show. Was very bizarre and low budget in the classic BBC style. Joanna Lumley and David McCallum. I used to enjoy it but didn't know what the hell I was watching

That was exactly what I thought

    alt text

All the guys were metals and all the chicks were gems. The beeb made great sci fi back then. Tom Baker's Dr Who and Blake's 7 were unmissable

Not made by BBC - was ITV's response to the popularity of Dr Who by pairing Ilya Kuryakin (McCullum - Man from UNCLE) and Purdey (Joanna Lumley - New Avengers).

Must be time for me to (again) mention Joanna Lumley opening her front door to me wearing only her chemise :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_winking_eye: 😈

That story may be far more effective if anyone knew what a chemise was

I know it's constantly replayed on TV but it's classic

    Again love it...

I don't think xfiles aged well from rewatching old episodes just seemed average but I remember it being super creepy as a kid.

    Radio with Pictures

Couldn’t wait for Sunday nights. Pre you tube/ internet this and 6 week old music press (NME) was the only way to get new music.
Dr Rock, Karen Hay, Dick Driver even that nerdy Phil dude certainly introduced some great music to a generation.

Hill st blues was great , New York City was such a decaying dump in that era too.

No mention of any kiwi shows from that era so far , I can’t remember any decent ones either

There was a weird time due to a strike or something where there were no hosts and tv show called heartbeat city came on that was just one song after another . Cv was a pretty good replacement for RWP when it came out .

Wiki says they filmed much in Chicago but it was never specified as to where the show was set.

Another show I really enjoyed was Taxi, although it started in the late 70s

This was from the only episode I clearly remember. Latka bakes coca leaf infused cookies and feeds it to the crew

@canefan What I remember about Taxi was that Marilu Henner had the most magnificent chest on TV. At least until Loni Anderson appeared on WKRP.
