Also, a million people live in Kings Landing.

This series is looking like having very little in the way of interesting plot. The positioning of the chess pieces looks to have finished and it is now all about set pieces. I hope I'm proved wrong.

@Kirwan said in GOT - there will be spoilers:

I think it’s best not to think of it as individual episodes, but one long movie.

You need this sort of episode, though I agree it should have been one long one instead of two.

Can’t just have 6 episodes of battles.

Completely agree @Kirwan. I really enjoyed that episode, better than Ep. 1 which wasn't bad at all.

I think the writing especially was good, with many good one liners and some really touching moments.

Arya's side boob is getting all sorts of chat on the interweb with many arguments about body doubles etc.

To go further from my last post, here's where I think things will go based on various fan theories and I've been pushing this for a while now.

As per my last post, the Night King and Viserion are not at Winterfell, instead they are flying down to Kings Landing.

    The reasoning for this is:

    1. We did not see the Night King in the lineup approaching Winterfell

    2. In Season 04 Bran touched a Weirwood tree and had visions, all have come true so far except these two:

    • He sees a shadow of a dragon flying over Kings Landing
    • He sees a destroyed throne room
    1. Dany has a vision while in the House of the Undead also of the throne room destroyed and what we assumed was ash falling from the sky, but this may not be ash, but rather it is snow or even a combination of both

This would explain why they have previously made a point of Kings Landing having a million people, as that would be more wights to deal with. Also, this is much smarter of the Nights King to do it this way, rather than trying to take on a prepared army and 2 dragons at Winterfell.

One last thing, we know that Bronn is on his way to Winterfell and may see all of this go down, and as such alert Winterfell once he arrives.

Essentially, Battle of Winterfell is a distraction so the Night King can go and take Kings Landing.

The survivors from the battle for Winterfell then must take on the Knights King and all the wights from Kings Landing and here, by killing one, they take down all.

In terms of who lives and who dies, I wouldn't even try to guess. But for those who think Arya may die, recall the Meme (which is supposed to be based on the truth) which does the rounds regularly in which it says that GRRM's wife has threatened to leave him if Arya dies. :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    Thoughts?

Most likely spot on. The plot line so far (Cersei not sending troops and thinking she's outsmarted everyone, Ironborn saying they will remain in their islands) suggests that the Battle for Winterfell is another Battle of the Green Fork.

This series is looking like having very little in the way of interesting plot. The positioning of the chess pieces looks to have finished and it is now all about set pieces. I hope I'm proved wrong.

Yeah the crypts are very interesting as there has been so much foreshadowing including pretty much every trailer released for season 8.

One thing to keep in mind is that Winterfell, including the crypts, were built by Bran the Builder, the same who built, with the aide of the Children of the Forrest, the Wall and when building the Wall, spells were weaved into it to keep the White Walkers and wights out.

So it makes sense that Winterfell and most likely the crypts have been built using similar magic and this has been alluded to in the books in particular but it's pretty safe to say that the crypts have huge significance in both the books and TV series.

So I think there will be more to it that just more dead for the Night King to rise.

It's important to note that Bran hasn't entered the crypts since being marked by the Night King and therefore any magic to keep out White Walkers and wights should be intact. Also would explain why Bran told Samwell to tell Jon of his parentage as Jon was in the crypts at the time and that during the War for Winterfeel, he will wait in the Godswood.

Whilst I do think that there is definitely a possibility the Stark ancestors will rise, I'd say it's at least 50/50 that they will fight beside the living Stark's and on the side of the living rather than the White Walkers and the dead.

@RoninWC you clearly put plenty of thought into this show. What’s your take on the other signposting that hasn’t played out yet? In particular the clumsy lines from Gilly about words that sound the same but mean different things? Sea/see.
She read something in the books Sam stole which Sam hasn’t clicked to yet.
Theory I read was that it was to do with the Night Kings identity and the prophecy (sun/son)

So who's everyone got dying in the Battle of Winterfell? I'm picking:

    • Brienne of Tarth (defending the Kingslayer in the battle)
    • Theon Greyjoy (defending Bran in the garden)
    • Greyworm
    • and my roughie is Daenerys Targaryen (frees up the storyline for Jon Snow)

@Kirwan she can bring people back to life, but cant heal burns 😉

@Sneakdefreak yeah been thinking on that...plenty of major players that can be killed off, possibly more than 1 will bite it tomorrow...?

Davos, Varys, Misande to name a few.

I figured she was trying to look like the girl that got burned alive to mess with him. Assuming that's who she was.

Sorry the slow reply @Crucial . That's a very good question.

As you have suggested, it could be related to the Night Kings identity or the prophecy of the Prince who was Promised.

Some of the theories out there is that the Prince who was Promised is what the Night King is seeking as his right. A child that was promised the last time but not delivered which lead to the Long Night.

And that this time, the child could possibly be the child of Dany and Jon (Aegon).

It's funny though in that most of the interweb chat about that conversation between Gilly and Sam focus on the wedding and not the other things Gilly found.

Should be noted in the previous episode it was mentioned 5 times that the safest place to be is in the Crypts, 5 times...
Clearly that may not be the case..

Fucking amped for tonight's episode. Honestly have no idea who will die. Brienne seems an obvious one, as well as some of the other not-so-central characters like Theon, Friendzone and Greyworm (I'm surprised Greyworm has lasted so long given he's always on the front line).

I like the idea of Stark ancestors rising in the crypts and fighting on the side of the living. Headless Ned has a nice ring to it.

Another thing I want to see is Ghost tearing whitewalkers apart with aplomb. They really need to give the dire wolves their due respect in the series, I don't know why they haven't so far, would add a lot to the show.

Social media will be fucking flooded with spoilers after 1PM.
