@Kirwan Azor Ahai mentioned Everytime Mel was on screen, she specifically called out Jon being it.
What are the body crop circles? Who was the Night King? I guess Bran will tell us, quickly, at some point
Yeah, I might not have been listening to her much...

I am guessing another chess piece chatting etc episide... then a decisive episode... then a what happens next to who is left episide.

Ok now I'm calm from the neat shock of Night King being dead already, and mostly great Cinema. I'm actually pissed there is so little pay off to 7 sessions (and years of reading the books) of build up to the night King, Prince that was promised, song of ice and fire, all those hints and stuff. Gone. Arya just teleported to right next to him, he was surrounded by his troops, and kills him.
Yeah I'm looking forward to politics and stuff likes it's season 1 again. But that's it for the whole white walkers storyline?
Maybe that's not the end, big twist coming, but can't see it.
Pissed that there was no grey with the villain, no motivation or reason. Despite Martin taking about that continually. He wanted everyone dead, never said a word (I'm was sure he was going to speak to Bran), good guys won
Annoyed with the lack of main character deaths, and the number of just in time saves. Along with every character that died doing so in a heroic fashion, all very Hollywood.
Happy that the books will be so different.
Sad that martin will probably die before he finishes
/End of moan

The video session between the Night King and his white walker generals will be tough. They all stood there while Arya ran through them. It was like watching the Warriors.
I get the reason for using the Night King as a mcguffin but I really wanted him to win the Ironthrone. Now my boy's out of the race as they turn for home I'm going to have to hope Cersei comes through with the win.

I just watched End Game and yet Arya Stark's big moment was the best thing I have seen recently. My hands shot into the air and yelled "yes!!!"

Hoolleeeyyfuuck that was intense. Brilliant episode, and what a fucking epic finish.
I was pretty sure it wasn't going to go the way people think the books are as they're too different now, and a TV series could never capture the complex details well enough anyway. So I'm not too fussed about that.
I enjoyed the fuck out of that. The most epic battle scene I've ever watched. So many awesome scenes; the dragons laying waste to thousands of white walkers; the Dothraki disappearing into a sea of darkness: Lyanna Mormont slaying the giant. Could go on and on.
Can't help but feel a battle with Cersei is going to be a bit of an anti-climax after that.
-
I'm going against the grain, didn't think that was a great episode, but glad the zombie storyline is over and they can now get back to the, um, game of thrones.
I don't think it lives up to previous battle episodes (and they employed some stupid tactics like they've been hanging out with The Walking Dead crew) and the dragon fights were underwhelming.
I did enjoy the final scene though, Arya went full bad ass this episode - finally. I like how they also played up a bit of the theory floating around that Bran was actually the bad guy all along by making it mysterious in that final scene until Arya killed the Night King.
Poor Friendzone, although he lasted longer in the series than I thought he would. For a moment there I thought they'd killed Missandei, but thankfully she was in next weeks preview.
I have no idea what Azor Ahai is???
-
Man lots of people complaining about the lighting. I didn't have any issues at all? I always watch it in the dark though, must have been worse during the day.
-
@Nepia I'm sure other experts can give a better backstory, but he's essentially a hero that defeated the white walkers thousands of years ago, and the 'R'hllor Lord of Light' religion (Melisandre's religion) prophesied he would be reborn to defeat them once again. She made Stannis think he was the hero to save the realm. Given Arya slayed the Night King I guess she's Azor Ahai? Though she didn't have the Lightbringer sword that the prophecy talked about. So maybe he was just never reborn which is annoying people - I think the books will go a different path here with far more details about Azor Ahai and the Night Kings true motivations etc.

I watched last weeks episode during the day and it was pretty hard to watch in parts so this week must have been bad middle of the day. But, as you say, it was mostly fine tonight to see what was going on despite the night setting.

Just watched the last two back to back..I had planned on holding off entirely until the Mrs caught up (end of season 6 currently) but by christ I could tell there was no way in hell I could function as a modern day bloke without getting spoilers. Facebook, forums, news website, people on public transport, txts, whatsapp, messenger. This must be the biggest show of all time right? Unavoidable and thats before all the memes start coming through on the morrow.
Anyway squeezed them both in tonight. Really enjoyed episode 2, calm before the storm and built nicely into the explosiveness of ep 3. I made sure to acquire the best quality version I could in order to deal with the darkness. Some absolutely awesome scenes (dothraki lights, little mormont, horror movie scenes with arya dodging the undead), like others I'm a little gutted that this wasn't the ultimate battle, don't think anyone picked the white walkers to be gone this early. Survival rates a lot higher than expected, I've made sure not to watch the preview for next week so at this point the sum total of the good guy army is one dragon, maybe a dozen heroes, little Sam and some women from the crypt. They might all be able to fit on said dragon fly down to Kings landing and finish this whole thing up next episode.

Amazing to think the Night King was killed by this..
Interesting watching HBO's Inside the Episode, D & D said they had been planning Arya as the one to kill the NK for the past 3 years. They felt it wasnt right to be Jon Snow or someone more obvious like that.
I guess if your going to have a cold hearted assassin in the family she might as well be useful.. -

I agree with all of this. It was a just 60 off mins of a hard watch. Couldn't make out what was going on half the time with the Dragons fighting.
We lost about 5 minutes of recording when a storm came through. It was when the night king raised all the dead again and the surrounded John Snow. Next thing we saw it he had gotten away/ killed them. How did that happen as he was surrounded?
Cool ending though and loved how she swept through and you only saw the breeze take their hair and then BOOM! True-Love got up and clapped! ha ha

So the Night King hit your place too?

Did anyone else get annoyed that annoying kid killed a fucken giant ?
I mean logically it's possible ( weak spot ) but I woulda loved it if the Hound did it instead, he was nearby.
No, I liked the guts and fearlessness of the attack by her.
The hound ended up looking weak when he was giving up when all around weren't

I'm glad she's gone, hated her character immensely.
Yeah true, the Hound did have a few moments when he lost direction but snapped out of it for his old mate Ayra.
Fuck the "mighty" Dothraki weren't worth shit when it came to the crunch.

Awesome stuff, although it did feel a bit anticlimactic with the NK dying without any real info on what he wanted (aside of everyone dead). WTF was Bran doing? is his role over now that the NK is dead? that's the bit that feels like it's drifted or disconnected for me.
Arya, fuck yeah. Loved that she had that period of flight and genuine fear before dropping the NK with that sweet move- definitely a 'fuck yeah' moment!
Absolutely agree with the frustration around how to raise a dragon, then have fuck all idea of how to use it. I get that in the lore they haven't been around for ages, but holy shit they did some dumb shit.
Was really pleased that Theon got redemption, and Jorah was a boss till the end. I did have a few seconds of wondering if daenerys was going to cark it though.
Presume our last Dire wolf is goneski now?
