I had a look tonight and this weird thing is understandably not premium content, it doesn't really make sense or have a point .

The headline should actually be "journalist adds hype to local clash".

    The horror.

Ali vs Foreman....Stephen Jones vs reality.

    Fuck that’s good humour.

It is nice of Barnes not to mention Owen Franks ball carrying though.

A paywall works if you have something of value

Patrick McKendry does not have anything interesting to say and often makes basic errors. For instance this was in a paywalled article about Papali'i

At 1.91m and 95kg, but with genuine pace which he revealed in scoring a try in the corner after blowing past Beauden Barrett last weekend, it may be that Papalii's long-term position is openside flanker.

I'm guessing those stats are from an age restricted team a few years ago. Anyone can see Papali'i is a lot bigger than 95kgs.

The Blues and AB's sites both list Papali'i as 1.93m and 113kg.. thats a pretty good size for a blindside

@Duluth IMO there are very few journalists - let alone sports journalists - who properly research their articles. They're either inadequate, lazy or under so much time pressure that they skip searching for facts from reliable sources. Well-referenced Wikipedia articles are often better than what they produce. And as far as writing is concerned, some journalists have no clue about grammar, punctuation and spelling. Proofreading finished texts is, apparently, also something that doesn't happen anymore. I'm not sure whether it's due to the training they've had, or working in click-bait driven media where every second counts, but it only seems to be getting worse and worse. And then I haven't even started yet about the author-less articles. I can't imagine paying for these low-quality write-ups.

    I think it's evolved.

"Pay monkeys, get faeces thrown in your face"

@MN5 so you think they should pay the likes of Twattue more, and the quality of his writing will improve... 🤔

@MN5 why wouldn't I? He is a paid writer for them, you implied they get paid poorly and that is why they are poor writers.

I miss the daily posts from TR informing us that rattue has written another article (that he hasn’t read apparently)

@SammyC good old fern hyperbole...most of the time it was MN5 tagging me to read it, so was only responding to his fishing attempts.

Ratpoo was a selectoral genius last RWC (remember how he was certain DC was passed it and needed to be dropped)
Can’t wait to see what journalistic gems he has for us later this year.

It’s not that they would get better if they were paid more, it’s that because they are paid less you attract the level of a Rattue.

I thought the beauty of the paywall is that we wouldn't have to see his gems anymore?

I like @MN5's idea though, we need to find an eccentric multi billionaire that will kick in $1 everytime @taniwharugby mentions he hasn't read their articles. Although, the hole they leave will likely be filled by someone equally inane.
