@Jonty-lean Because the English were standing in our backline

Yeah, but we figured out how to nullify that by delaying the pass in midfield....after 70 minutes. An experienced combination (Smith/Nonu) would have countered that earlier.

Don't get me wrong, Goodhue and ALB are great, but we've buggered about with the midfield since 2015 and it showed tonight.

Breakdown was the downfall. AB's couldn't handle rush defence. We played trash. England just played so well. Clinical as fuck. AB's didn't deserve shit.

The reality is , the scoreboard doesn’t reflect the dominance , it probably saves us from the embarrassment it could have been

Agreed - easily a thirty point drubbing.

They were clearly miles the better team but that was more as a result of closing the ABs down rather than creating all that many scoring opportunities (even allowing for two tries correctly, disallowed). To say it should have been a thirty point drubbing is very subjective when they never really looked like scoring that many points.

Having said that I actually agree that they probably were about thirty points better when all is said and done but they weren't good enough to make it show on the scoreboard.

We didnt lose because of our backs. Our forwards got monstered. In the scrums, in the lineouts and at the breakdowns.

This is the most comprehensive defeat my middle age brain can remember

Goodhue was so excellent I was thankful when he was taken off. He doesn't look fully fit yet

I’m assuming the MOTM thread will be English players?

@Billy-Tell He's so much better than Bridge. When has that clown beaten a defender with pace in this tournament?

But, but, but, he scored 4 tries against Tonga! Surely he was our best winger!

Bridge just gets to the tackle fast, no evasion at all. Good at tacking high balls, and chasing kicks. Nothing else.

    This.

We were rabbits in headlights when we should have taken a deep breath, absorbed the pressure and built control.

There were times when we looked like doing just that - and then gave away stupid penalties, kicks or turn-overs.

Hate to say it, but Read ain't a good captain under pressure.

Yes but he’s been in poor form all year. Pity because on form he’s great.

@Billy-Tell Excellent in Super Rugby until the Blues dipped. Scored a try in Perth then made a scapegoat for it.

Comiserations to all you kiwis, your team let you down, but in fairness they never gave up. But that performance from England would have beaten anyone. Relentless.

Haven't seen an ABs team beaten up for 80 minutes like that since the 1991 Semi Final.

A great one-off? Part of a fantastic RWC campaign by Eddie and co? Or the start of an era of England dominance?

So crap to be beaten in all facets, across the park. No moments of pure magic, just forced into constant errors, stupid decisions, and not great selections.

England totally (violent illness) deserve to be in the final (violent illness)

@Winger don’t have too many problems with backs. Apart from kicking game which is tactical. The forwards were average tonight. No hard hitting and ruck presence without Cane. Ardie is a runner. The ABs were cleaned out at lineouts and beaten up by energy of English who outlasted them.

If you are referring to Reiko he has been full of mistakes and really has let the selectors down.

Fuckin' John Mitchell. I should have ran him over when he went for his runs past my house. 😉
