It's widely reported now that Boris Johnson is receiving oxygen treatment.
Bit bored of the he's still in charge line.
He's certainly not well - there is no doubt there. Hancock is arguably more important right now anyway. The media briefings when he was ill were rudderless, poor and confusing. Improved big time with his return from illness.

Boris now in intensive care.
The UK Prime Minister is fighting for his life this evening. Thoughts with his colleagues, his many friends and family. Hope he pulls through.
This virus can hit anyone. I hope people realise how serious the situation is now and follow the advice, wash their hands and stay at home.

He's not even on a ventilator at this stage is he?
It appears he is currently in a stable condition.
I think fighting for his life is a bit of a stretch at this stage

"Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital," his office said in a statement.
Downing St said Johnson was conscious and did not require ventilation at the moment, but was in the intensive care unit in case he needed it later.

If you don't take it for me, take it from Piers Morgan who has known Boris Johnson for over 30 years. He is very, very ill.

My personal experience is that people don't end up in ICU unless/until it is touch and go. Ventilated or not. Fingers crossed for him.

Once you end up in ICU for this virus.... The stats are very grim

Hopefully they are taking him early as an added precaution, might skew the odds in his favour a bit

@Baron-Silas-Greenback There was an amazing report on the BBC News tonight from inside the University College London Hospital:
Not sure if the link works outside the UK.

Yeah the wording is vague and of course now the various media are picking out bits of info. From those I trust it seems:
10% Covid patients in ICU don’t make it
80% have left ICU but not hospital
10% still in ICU
He’s conscious, talking and NOT on a ventilator. He IS on oxygen. It ain’t strong but I suspect he has gone into ICU earlier than others would have so there is no reason right now to fear the worst.
-
From what I've read about UK stats it seems going into ICU is a 50/50 deal, although I think UK stats are based on people who are out of ICU, currently in ICU, and those that passed after being in ICU. So it's possibly a bit better than 50% but that's still rough as. From a similar source it seems you dip into the 30% survival range if you need a ventilator.
Really hope Boris can shake this... also wondering if he managed to shake Pier's hand before he went in ( just a tad)
-
@MajorRage that 80% left ICT but still in hospital is quite heartening - and quite different from the stuff I was reading.
-
I hope Boris pulls through. If he doesn't the effect on society in the UK (and globally) will be immense I'd have thought. A healthy-ish 55 year old succumbing to Coronavirus would put the fear of god into a great many people.
UK Ferners - what's the mood like over there? Be a very unsettling thing I'd have thought.

Have stumbled across an email newsletter being published by RMIT and ABC doing some fact checks.
I thought it was meant to be daily but seems to miss the odd day.
Anyway, out if interest today's email talks about:
- The comparison between Singapore's and Australia's responses. Looks like Singapore went earlier with initial success, but haven't sustained it and their numbers are not flattening.
- Joe Exotic does not have WuFlu
- Facebook story about WHO announcing it is airborne is debunked
- Facebook story about a doctor in Italy deliberately mistreating 3500 patients so they died is debunked
- antibiotic ointment up your nose doesn't work
- cannabis doesnt kill the virus
- Trump did not call the virus a hoax
Nothing earth shattering but may be of interest. May help with Facebook hysteria.
If interested google ABC coronavirus fact check newsletter.
