    @Bovidae watched The Old Guard the other day, enjoyable movie.
    3.5 insignificant acts out of 5 more significant outcomes
    :::

    While may be set up for a sequel, it looks like it will be sans Charlize, or she will likely die early on

    :::

    I had no interest in this film initially, I broke my own rule of watching previews and it didn't look that good, and I'm not the Charlize fan that everyone in this place seems to be ... but I was listening to the Fatman Beyond podcast and they had the writer of the film (and comic) on the show. He was really interesting so I thought I'd give it a watch and really enjoyed.

    :::

    I think Charlize is the main producer of the film (and a series) so I assume she'll stay around longer, you could take a sneak peek at the comic I guess to see if she's still in it.

    :::

    Also watched Hamilton, counting it as a film, it had a director and was filmed 🙂 ... I actually don't like musical movies but do like musicals in the theatre.

    This lived up to the hype, I really want to see it live now.

    :::

    The only issue I had was that I felt the way it ended, without a big number, seemed slightly flat considering what had come before.

    :::

    I really enjoyed the Old Guard. Hope they keep making them, left me wanting more.

    I assume it has done well enough on Netflix for them to make the sequel.

    I saw Hamilton in London. It was tedious. Once you get past the gimmick of blacks playing whites and rap being used as the music it was overblown crap.
    Mind you I have decided that I can’t stand musicals especially long ones in uncomfortable and expensive seats where the audience goes stupid just because an actor gives them a wink.

    @Crucial @Nepia I thought we decided long ago that the only musical worth watching is Les Mis. Nothing else, ever.

    It is the best. I've read the books by Victor Hugo too. Blubbered like crazy

    I have actually! Took the old lady to it about 6yrs ago in Sydney. Was actually fine, not spectacular, though she loved it. Never again obvs

    good show. Funny factoid about the dodgy guy that used to lead the 4 seasons ending up as Joe Pesci's driver. No Jean Valjean though

    I think Andy's last line to Booker suggests she will be around a little longer.

    @Bovidae am sure she will be, but maybe less of a main character, unless she suddenly heals again...

    There is a lot of backstory that can be expanded on in any future movie.

    Oceans 8.

    Same movie, different genders, similar plots. Pretty good though to be honest. Bullock is sensational for a 55 year old.

    Can I ask how you were coerced into watching this??? Did you have an affair? Were you coming off a 3 day lads golf weekend? [edited for bad typing]

    Surely there is some background here.

    Yep. People breaking out into song mid-sentence every 15 minutes or so is just bloody tedious.

    @voodoo to be serious for a second ... it’s Bullock and Blanchett. They wouldn’t do a super shitty woke reboot.

    I hear you.

    I do like Sandra, I really do. I'm actually the king of romantic comedies, not ashamed to admit it, and I like many with her in them

    But this movie just seemed like they took an incredible movie (I LOVE the original), and tried to ride its coat-tails on a woke-wave (TM)

    I guess it's great that they did a good job of it though!
