<p>After moving from a public accounting practice to the private sector as financial controller it shocked me how many people don't pay their invoices by the due date.</p>

<p>I had always assumed that the rest of the population was the same as me. (ie) paid their bills when they were due.</p>

<p>I've been in this role for 10 years now, nothing surprises me when it comes to collection. I've heard damn near every excuse under the sun. And, making a broad sweeping generalisation, Chinese companies are the worst, and in NQ tourism, that's a large part of our customer base. Sometimes it honestly feels like a game "ahh, you got me, okay, i pay now".</p> -
<p>Every day we can add to our debtors is 1 million on the bottom line.</p>

<p>I have no truck with wages/salaries not being paid on the dot, but unfortunately if you're a subbie its part of the game.</p>

<p>The small guy does suffer disproportionately but they also have benefits that the average wage slave doesn't in terms of "business expenses"</p>

<p>I assume they will also come out this with a conviction, as the Building owner will likely need to go through the police to get the Insurer to cough up to rectify the damage, and the insurer will want reparation for any damages they pay out.</p>
