This article is quite something. Trivial facts aplenty in this bizarre story!

love how everytime I open Stuff, I am confronted with a pop-up to donate to them to keep quality journalism alive in NZ, and then you get hard hitting articles like this one

    That is fucked.
Either "city" - I can imagine would look good from the safety of sitting in a (low profile) boat in the middle of the respective rivers. But get ashore... the only thing you're looking at is the pavement, to avoid dog(?)-shit.
Having lived in the UK for the last decade or so - I found it the opposite of NZ. UK - the coastal towns are shitholes, and the river-towns are beautiful.
    UK river towns - Henley-on-Thames, Goring/Streatley
    NZ - I present Hamilton, Whanganui, Palmy-Nth

I have to do an overnighter in Whangas for work every month and I will admit the gardens/lake area is pretty stunning for a morning walk. The view from the hill is ok too. But overall ? shit no.

In saying all that it is far prettier than the tron.

@Kruse I remember staying at the Oakley Court on a footy trip, sipping beers in the afternoon and thinking, this is a nice bit of the world.

I don't know what is more crazy? That both those two are fighting for first place or that Whanganui is the current holder??

How does Wellington and Auckland not walk this??? Christchurch is flat and dull so I can see that reason there. Even Dunedin is nicer than Whanganui and Tron

@taniwharugby definitely an argument for enforced sterilisation. At the least should threaten to take all their welfare benefits away if they don't cooperate

I remember Halligan though, deserved a go.

And what turns up in Stuff?

    what a shitty headline, because:

The way it works is players compete for the same trophy, play alongside each other in the same field and courses are prepared to keep play as even as possible.

So, on a long par three for example, the women’s tee is set up so they should be playing a long iron onto the green – just as the men would from their tee positions further back.

NZG are diligent in the way they structure the course. You wouldn’t have a man hitting a mid iron, and a woman a long iron off their respective tees. That wouldn’t be fair and the idea, if the course has been set up in an optimum way, regardless of gender the better player should win with both genders hitting like-for-like shots around the course.

For that to be true, they would tee off the same tees.

@taniwharugby Ms Cato No2’s b/f is a Royal Marine, when asked about female recruits to the corps was fine “as long as they have the same training and meet the same tests and targets as the men”. The training they go through and what they achieve is incredibly impressive but it is not the same as the men. This does not impress the guys.
