Well, I suppose if he comes out with family, he shouldn't have to go to prison since he's ending it peacefully. It's only fair. Maybe after shooting several people, he might be able to enjoy home detention. Perhaps even with conditions to allow him to work eight hours a day as well. In fact, bugger it - throw away the electronic bracelet. We just don't understand what he's had to go through over the last 18 hours. It's tough, OK guys?

I've got a mate who was related to Stephen Wallace, he's normally good company but I've had to bite my tongue a few time over the years as hes twisted himself in knots trying to claim the police were at fault not the nutter who wouldn't put down his weapons when confronted by an armed cop.

To be fair to the Mayor he was being interviewed and was asked questions about the family - whether he knew them, how long he'd known them, did he know the perp, what was he like etc.

I actually got the quote wrong now I think about it. He said the family were good - about the kid he said it was inappropriate to comment.

I've worked with an officer who was extremely involved in that case. Depending on which lunatic relative you believe Wallace was only shot and killed cos he was Maori ( conveniently forgetting that the officer who pulled the trigger is too ) and "was only smashing a few windows" the police could have easily "taken him down with a Stephen Seagal type move" ( I've never had a golf club to the head but I'd imagine if I survived that basic things like eating, drinking and going to the toilet on my own would be difficult ) and incapacitated him until help arrived. At a sole charge town like Waitara "help" is often 20-30 minutes away and that is when they are red lighting. So yeah when I hear about this it is a pretty sore point for me personally ( some fluffybunny shot my police officer granddad dead many moons ago )

You can be sure as fuck that no "whanau" support were given the disgusting soapbox like they were today. Trying to garner sympathy for some fuckwit who deliberately shot at our brave boys in blue trying to do their job repulses me in the extreme. Do that shit in private and lament the fact that you raised what you did......

It's no wonder cops miss the old non PC days of yesteryear.

Mostly he made personal attacks about the cop because he'd been involved in an armed incident before , something about a bank holdup. Apart from that he was a good sort, the family have made that cops life pretty miserable since.

I'm not sure how anyone, family or not, can in their right mind suggest taking someone on who is armed with a golf club. I know how Police are trained and if Wallace had complied he'd be alive now. It's as black and white as that.

Been involved in an armed incident before ????? so fucken what, that's his job.
