Conway is absurd. Everything looks so easy for him

Amazingly ( well, to me at least ) he’s the twelfth BC to get a ton on debut. That seems like an awful lot of players !

He is unflappable. Even when he took a few shots to the body from Wood he was not affected. I recall only one false shot in the first hour, a very thick edge that fell well short of the cordon and wide as well

Well done that man! I flaked just after midnight and he was looking good. Beyond stoked that he has dominated on debut, and well done on selecting him NZC.

Ok, I'm going to say it.

Ross Taylor is past it. Great career but the body can't cope ( eyes, reflexes etc). Think Keiran Read in 2019

There, I've said it (nervous gulp)

I think a future batting order of:

    1. Latham
    2. Young
    3. Williamson
    4. Conway
    5. Nicholls
    6. Blundell

... isn't many seasons away. Unfortunately for Ross.

Hard on Blundell but he will slot into BJ's position as keeper batsmen when BJ retires. A guy that can keep well and stood up with the bat against the might of Oz in Oz. We are spoiled right now

This was always going to be Roscoe's last hurrah. Let's hope your Reado analogy isn't accurate.

If he doesn't produce form in these two tests will they have the balls to drop him or will the lack of play for Blundell count? Will be interesting. Maybe Blundell gets a go next test?

The optimist in me wants to see Ross go out on top with a leading innings in the test championship.

Got to have a lot of sympathy for Robinson. Should have come off the field expecting to be asked about what was a reasonable test debut. Instead he was ambushed by the Mail and had to read a cringeworthy apology. For what? A few puerile adolescent attempts at humour that are tamer than the sort of thing Jeremy Clarkson regularly said on prime time TV!

Not meant as an apology for racism/sexism at all and the tweets were certainly embarrassing but FFS Daily Mail.

Dunno about that, KW is the senior player and tends to go ok at 3. Mind you Lara and Ponting tended to switch between those positions from memory. Cricinfo tells me that Tendulkar never batted 3 and KW has only batted 4 twice.

In terms of potential and proven performers that top six could be even better than what we have currently though.

They won't drop Rossco and nor should they. He got 70 vs Pakistan late last year, so he's not in the Geoff Howarth and his seeing eye dog category just yet.

From Stead's comments about liking to play a spinner, I suspect we will see Boult come in for CdG for the WTC game - or hopefully before if he's available for the 2nd test vs England.

Santner odds on to make the XI unless England slaughter him.
