@crucial really? i had in my head taylor dropped in form when he was made captain, i will correct myself

    45.61 as non cap.
    47.26 as cap.

    101 in WTC Finals! πŸ™‚

Edit: That's Kane, of course, not Rossco - Ross is just 58.

New Zealand beat India to win inaugural World Test Championship | Cricket News - Times of India

Cricket News: India's revered superstars failed to dazzle on the 'D-Day' as New Zealand's canny operators and their classy skipper Kane Williamson deservingly walke

The Times of India giving us plenty of credit.

The comments section is fairly brutal - summed up briefly by some guy called Paulie - "All Kholi Hype Burst.... useless fellow." πŸ™‚

    That comments section is brutal.

It is interesting, I love stats .. if you break his average into just time..before captaincy stint, captaincy, post captaincy the average continues to increase, so not just an increase during captaincy

    That Nicholls catch!

It was such a great catch, and such an important moment. Pant was taking the game away from us quickly, another 10 overs of him and we would have been playing for the draw. There is so much to savor looking back on this test.

But seriously: if you need to be validated by an Aussie (jeers and hooting from the gallery):

I think it is a fantastic achievement, and a reflection on NZ Cricket's ability to keep together a group of world-class players for a long period. Champion team vs team of champions etc.

Does it make up for the howler at the last CWC in Pommyland? It does not. Neither is it "justice" for that hideous mistake.

But is is well deserved and proved that the Black Caps are a better England than England are with the Duke ball. To get the victory despite the delays shows a significant amount of class, and is a bit of a fuck-you to the Aus/Eng/Ind hegemony that threatened to make everyone else second-tier.

I'm sure there are a bunch of Indian fans out there piping up with a bloody-fuckyou-play-us-on-a-dustbowl with 11 spinners and a bunch of crowds cheering for every block, but they can get fucked.

    Choice bro.

All that bukkake blinded you. Understandable.

All of NZ gets to bask in the glory of what the national cricket team has achieved before giving precisely zero fucks starting Saturday week.

In case it matters, all the aussie cricket fans around me are totally stoked for nz and have been supporting nz in this final for 3 months now. So many congrats messages.

Same for my Indian mates abroad.

    @bayimports I agree completely.

When we won the RWC in 1987, I can recall it was nowhere near as big of a deal as it had become by 2011!

We have become the Uruguay of test cricket! πŸ™‚

Uruguay won heaps of shit from the 1920s to 1950s so I'd take that

I'm looing forward to ESPN Sportscentre and surely a narrative along the lines of a nation of barely 5 million beating a nation of almost 1.4 billion.

The main problem with scheduling a three-test final is actually fitting it into a crammed international calendar dominated by the **Big Three (India, Australia, England)**, alongside the Indian Premier League and other Twenty20 tournaments.

Hmm, perhaps that big three tag needs to modified?

Great first post. You have set your own standard and will be booed out of here unless it is maintained. We have expectations now.

Oh it's his standard, not ours. That really isn't much of a challenge.
