Last night, after realising I'd rationalised my way into getting well boozed, I was thinking I should keep an "Alcoholic's Diary" - keeping track of my ridiculous rationalisations when drinks shouldn't be had, and perhaps a count of drinks... so I could look back on it, and realise how fucking stupid I am.
And then along comes this thread - I think I've found the perfect medium for said Journal.

If this involved horizontal rather than alcoholic refreshment then we’d have few problems….

It’s funny. I drink very rarely (maybe once a month) but the thought of not being able to has suddenly given me a strong urge to have one.

Celebration tonight, day off work tomorrow, Dry July may last 16 hours in my house.

I don't drink to excess (in one sitting) very much. Can't handle hangovers but it would be a rare night when I don't have a beer or a dram.

So yeah - I did 13.5 hours of Dry July today.
Might do it again tomorrow, who knows.

Rationalisation - some fluffybunny on the internet raised the concept of "Dry July", and I felt obliged to retaliate. Also, needed to dull the hangover.

My contribution to dry July will be not drinking from Sunday morning to Friday evening, 5.5 days of steadfast dedication.

Such tremendous sacrifice deserves a beer I reckon!

So... on the way home, I stopped for a cheeky pint or 4 at one of my locals.
And it turns out it's not actually "Dry July", but "Beer and a Pie July".
So... that's happening, I guess.
