@nevorian Animal House, Caddyshack, the National Lampoon Vacation movies!
The Israelis actually did the screwball comedy thing well. Haven't seen it in ages but i recall Lemon Popsicle having some quality skin.

Must watch all of the Hitchcock movies again sometime, seem to remember Birds scared me the most. Other old movies that sent shivers up my spine included The Exorcist and the Omen trilogy
One of my aunts was babysitting me as a young kid and we watched Omen. For all the "bad bits" she'd make me throw a blanket over my head so I didn't see. My imagination was worse...

Great movie. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is either 1a or 1b for westerns for me. The Newman/Redford combo was fantastic in The Sting as well.

My favourite film forever and a day - my children mock me for it but I feel no shame!
Those two fellas were at the peak of their powers when they made that - Paul Newman was mid forties and Redford ten years younger - and yet both went on to many other fine performances and other exceptional achievements.

I watched that film once, when I was a kid, and to this day I think of the elevator scene every time I get in one.

The music made it damn scary

The old man used to drag me along to the movies quite a bit and would have seen plenty of classic westerns and James Bond but his favourite of all time was Zulu ( welsh ancestry) which I had to admit was a great movie. May have been Michael Caines first major role too

That was a staple in my house growing up. As were other notables like Dambusters, A Bridge Too Far, Sink the Bismarck, etc. Every time they were on TV they were watched.
