Both Papalii AND PGS on bench. Does that mean they are looking to sub either Cane or Ardie?

You don't need a lock on the bench when you have a lock at 6.

It's like admitting one of them should be playing 6 without the balls to actually do it.

    neither

both locks will get subbed and PGS will play there too

Taylor was always going to start but he shouldn't be. No Laulala.

There isn't another option for no.23 as Perofeta is redundant with Mo'unga and BB.

Yay. Red Magnet Barrett on the blindside no less. What could possibly go wrong.

did the coaches watch the game last night and decide Ofa will be sweet, of has Ofa been keeping his powder dry at Super level scumming?

Barrett to 6, does that mean we will attack the lineo...oh right

Barrett at 6 and Ennor at 23.

This coaching group are soft as butter.

S Barrett is top three as a lock, but way down the list as a six. Akira, Dalton, PGS, Cane even Savea would be better picks there - and that's just in the current squad.

Picking PGS on the bench instead of a Akira is also a joke (assuming AI isn't one of the Covid cases).

Hooker is also around the wrong way.

LF, QT are also pretty average picks - probably forced with the current injuries/illnesses.

At least they picked the right ten.

Agreed. Why replaced a tired lock with another?

I don't think it is Cane that will be subbed. Injuries aside I think the plan would be for PGS to replace Ardie as they want to see his go-forward from the base. Cane/DP will play the flanks SA style.

There's two outstanding number 8s in the country that are both excellent lineout exponents. If you had either of them at 8 you wouldn't need to shoehorn in a lock at 6.

The press release, unsurprisingly, didn't include any great insight into the selection decisions, including opting for Scott Barrett at No 6 and leaving Dalton Papalii on the bench. There was simply a line from Foster regarding them taking into account managing players coming back from Super Rugby. Stuff reporter Marc Hinton is attending a press conference, however, and will have plenty to report throughout the day.

goddam rugby players are fucking soft

NRL players will play Origin Wednesday and club Friday night. Rugby players need to be "managed" back from a comp that finished 2 weeks ago?
