I think it would have made sense for Codie Taylor to be the bench hooker and Nathan Harris to get game time. Additionally, it doesn't look like Damian McKenzie will be getting game time any time soon, so why not let him get a chance against some reasonable opposition?

I have no issues with players not being released. They were selected into the AB camp so the coaches could work with them for the current and upcoming test campaign.
What are they going to achieve by having D Mac leaving the ABs and spending time back with the Chiefs to play a second string Wales side?

I know what you mean, but wouldn't think he'd need to spend a huge amount of time out of the AB setup - just a couple of days (and likely days where not too much would be happening, anyway - I'd say they'd largely be about recovery and review), given he already knows how the Chiefs play. It would mean he has an opportunity to put some of what he has learned into practice in an actual game situation, rather than learning lots of little things that he can't actually put to use, and are likely quickly forgotten. Also, testing yourself against some decent opposition is never a bad idea, either. I think that, in and of itself, is also a good learning experience.

They were going to achieve an interesting game befitting a proper tour. The Chiefs vs Wales game appears more of a friendly than a tour game. That is fine, I just don't think it will be really worthwhile for me to watch.

As the Blues lost 38-15 to France and the Crusaders 38-7 to England, anything under that margin would be OK for the Chiefs.

Honestly, I'm going along to enjoy the game and don't have any expectations of a win. No more injuries would be a better outcome.

A very... inexperienced... looking Chiefs side...

Too many injuries and a few All Blacks away and it looks a bit of a worry for tonight. Hope I'm wrong.

Wales getting over the advantage line, but Chiefs eventually force a breakdown turnover through Bird I think

enterprising play by the Chiefs, from a mark inside their 22 they go wide and get just inside the Welsh half, but Wales hooker turns the ball over and eventually Chiefs knock on in the counter ruck. First scrum between Wales 22 and their 10 m line

Chiefs scrum gets mullered but ref let's play go on, Pulu with a great one on two tackle saves the day from a breakout

I see Donald still likes his chip kicks from defensive territory, still not really working, but he made the first try, so it is forgiven

great break by the little Welsh fullback Morgan and superb vision to pass to his support but Chiefs scramble and just stop the try, Wales with a penalty, choose a 5m scrum probably going for pushover

Welsh scrum very dominant but third time Chiefs hold out and earn a penalty, Wales somehow fail to score from that, very weird
