We built this city - Jefferson Starship
And 9 others that are nowhere nearby as shit or annoying.
Always enjoyed it a lot more when subbing rock and roll for sausage roll.
To digress, also see AC/DC's "It's a long way to the shop, if you want a sausage roll". Google tells me there's been parodies of that over the years, but that version is stuck in my head from hearing it sung in a student factory job 20+ years ago...

I’ve genuinely always thought that was a LZ song.
As we're onto LZ. gotta nominate "Dazed and Confused" Awful, awful rip-of of the Jake Holmes original.
I love that and it’s terrific. The band are in top form. Zep at the early, raw best.
Who the fuck is Jake Holmes anyway ? Johns less endowed brother ?

'Time of my life' from Dirty Dancing. Makes me feel physically ill.
And as we're not allowed to just name a band then 'Riders on the Storm', and anything else by The Doors.
I may add others.
Many appear in the lists above.
eurythmics sweet dreams are made of this . makes me fell sick to.

@mariner4life yep mate they pretending to be hard rockers and really so bloody carefully planned out commercial. I know it was carefully planned etc (kind of like a boys band for rock) and good on them for making a lot of money out of it, Young boys saw how older brother did with his group. Just I not bogan enough for fuax heavy rockers really, and quite happy that plenty like it. Just all like our stuff differently I think. A couple of my sisters think they the bee knees which is good etc

This abomination that just popped up on my YouTube feed goes straight in
Well I’m not fucking listening to that.

I beggars belief that Grace Slick could be responsible for Somone to Love and White Rabbit and then participate in the saccharine shit of We Built This City
Children - This is what happens if you do hard drugs
TBF Slick has later said her association with Starship is the biggest regret of her life (Ka-Ching, Ka-Ching)

The bloke who actually wrote the song Jimmy Page claimed he'd written himself.

I’ve read the book, I know who he is
I do actually really like his version too but Zep took it to another level ( although the 20 odd minute version was utter wank )
Zep were certainly very liberal in terms of “borrowing” songs…..but then again so many other groups were too. They’re hardly alone there.

I’m losing track of all these music threads but worth pointing out how overrated Pearl Jam are. At their best they’re a good rock band but there were others of that era so much better.

A good sign of things to come when Sean Penn describes him as a good friend who is "going to gift us once again".

This meme lists a fair few mentioned songs. Seems they have something in common
The only really good song there is “We won’t get fooled again”
Led Zep at their absolute best.
Who?

Just imagine what's coming next between autotune, auto-everything and AI... stumbled on this good GOM-type monologue from Rick Beato last night, inspired by Billy Corgan, that seems like it should be right at home on a TSF music thread:
'People don't notice when something has been digitally altered'
[Still trying not to fall into @Tim's trap of thinking about songs I don't like and getting them stuck in my head all day... ]

Great thread!
Will build and update this post but number one is easy
Wagon wheel - by dunno who but really don’t care
There are probably 9 Coldplay or U2 songs to follow but will think about it a bit more
Old Crow Medicine Show.
They co wrote it from some old Bob Dylan song, I thought it was released in the 70s but it’s much more recent, 2001 in fact…..it’s been covered numerous times.
I’m not sure why I’m writing any of this as it is a god awful song that every slack jawed inbred fuck thinks is hilarious to request to long suffering pub bands. Hilarious. Chortle chortle.
It is one of THE most appropriate songs for this thread I have seen.

Like I said, I really don’t care…
