It's pretty funny to watch ( while doing internet shit)
The Aussie one recently aired had some funny set ups
Currently it's the yanks turn to show everyone how batshit crazy marriage is ( well between strangers anyway)

i

I watched the last episode of the Aussie one and it was awesomely bad. The drunk blonde chick was the star I reckon, she's an uber driver now. They didn't actually get married though, it was a commitment ceremony . -

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty

Family movie night on Saturday, and the kids have already seen anything animated worth watching. As Little Miss the Aussie is only 8, Batman vs Superman was off the table.

So we saw this instead, and I regret none of it.

What a fucking excellent film. What a wonderful statement to a guy like me, in his 40s now, and wondering what the fuck he's doing with his life.

Loved the scenery. The acting was great. The zone-out scenes were funny as, and the whole family loved it.

5 out of 5 middle-aged men who woke up to the banality of their lives and did something about it.

Sounds like I better watch it, based on my decisions over the last week...
-

Word to that brother. Went to visit the ex and the boys the other day and she was sitting on the couch binge watching that shit. I laughed and said "( exes fiancés name ), how the fuck are you sitting through this shit, I had years of it !" he replied "Well ( exes name ) has had a tough week, it's nice for her to relax and watch it". It absolutely amazes me how many TV shows are set in and around hospitals, the only one I've ever enjoyed is Scrubs ( that was some class comedy ) ER and Chicago Hope were just before it and then there's our very own Shithead Street which is still going.

It is great finding a show you're both into and despite the above her and I did enjoy some good stuff.

There were a few good ones. She got me into ER, Weeds, Orange is the New Black (1st series, rest is utter shart) and.... that's it I think. Oh, we also used to binge watch Storage Wars together. That show was addictive for a few months.

Now that we have a decent amount of space, we very rarely watch any TV together. I sit there watching and paying out on the horrendous shit that is Greys Anatomy, Heart of Dixie or whatever other puerile dross she watches until she politely tells me to fuck off. Which I do, and when she's finished I can finally watch something with zombies or medieval knights. Generally I just get some work done while she's watching that garbage. At least one of us can do something productive.
-

while i have never watched it, the entire concept astounds me.

And (rampant leftie opinion alert) that a country can be okay with 2 people who have never met getting married so they can be on TV, as long as one is male, and one is female. But 2 people of the same sex who love each other? Fuck no, that destroys the sanctity of marriage.

After seeing that, would gay people even want to get married?
-

That sounds the same as our house. In the early days she invited me to join her watching Gilmore girls which Id never heard of . I pointed out the mother was in Bad Santa and had a good laugh telling her about the scene where she's fucking billy bob on the front seat of a car screaming " fuck me Santa" . I think that was the first time I got " the look " from her, turned out Gilmore girls is her all time favourite show and she has them all on DVD and refuses to acknowledge the existence of Bad Santa. She's very rarely invited me to watch her excreble choices since , dodged bullets so far include covert affairs, greys anatomy , heart of Dixie all the Khardashian variants and every season of the bachelor .

Does your mrs watch girls? -

oi, fluffybunnies, this is a movie thread, piss off to the crap TV thread (which differs form the TV serieseses thread)

Billy Bob says in his book people tell him they watch every Xmas as a family and always says " you let your kids watch bad Santa?". One of my favourites too, he plays such a great sleazy prick in that film. -

The late Bernie Mac and John Ritter are great in that ( especially the former ).

In amongst so many highlights I think my favourite bit is when BBT beats the shit out of the skater kid who is picking on Thurman Murman.
-

BBT and Ritter worked together on his first real acting gig which was a show called Evening shade. BBT thought Ritter was a really underrated actor and was his mate as well so cast him in Sling blade too. -

At least TR should be able to put the toys back in the cot now we're talking movies.

BBTs best performance is in that fucken weird Oliver Stone movie "U Turn" starring Sean Penn. Interestingly enough that is a real town, Superior, Arizona although any town that it is Superior too must be one hell of a shithole.
-

Awful script, awful characters (including the worst, unfunny racist redneck parents/Indian son in law shit you can imagine.)

If you truly hate yourself, or your mother, or want a girl to break up with you to save trouble, buy/stream this movie. (There is some decent cleavage from Shay Mitchell)

I warned everyone a month ago to concentrate on adopting cholera rather than watching this. I'm pleased that my review is not a statistical anomaly here. -

I'd go with Sling blade , one false move is pretty good too. -
We watched Merchants of Doubt the other night - it's based on the book by Naomi Oreskes (an American science historian) which discusses how corporate institutions pollute the public with doubts on scientific knowledge to protect their businesses.
Clearly quite dry subject matter and the missus wasnt too keen to watch it but most of it is so outrageous that it actually makes for entertaining viewing of the "wtf that can't have happened" variety.
There's quite a lot of focus on Big Tobacco / Flame Retardants and of course Climate Change with some very interesting characters from all sides of the issue.

7.5 / 10

You mean in the exact same way religious institutions do the same thing... try to pollute or cast doubts on proven science with pseudo-science babble like Intelligent Design, and Young Earth. Youtube is particularly full of Xtian fundies blabbing on about how the Theory of Evolution is wrong... and then don't get me started on that moron Ken Ham and his little project.
-

Righto I'm stuck home on a Friday night and need a awesome movie to watch. Not a so-so or pretty good movie. I want something that I'll finish up and get back on this forum and give it a solid 10 outta 10. There is every chance I have seen all such movies but I'm hoping one has slipped by. From the top of your heads without thinking muh what are your top 5 movies of all time?
Mine:
Forrest Gump
Braveheart
Fight Club
The Matrix
American History X -

Back to the Future, Revenge of the Nerds, Shawshank (yeah, I know everybody blah blah), Beverly Hills Cop, Caddyshack

I wonder what is my favourite genre of flick ...

EDIT - some other recent flicks which I've seen which I absolutely loved.

The Martian

The Big Short

Wolf of Wall Street

And apparently Whiplash is supposed to be awesome. About jazz drumming or something.
-

The Godfather

True Romance

Platoon

I can't think of any more right away. I did a top 10 list one time but can't remember it.

In the top 10 would be Casablanca, Good Will Hunting, LA Confidential, Carlito's Way but not sure if they're in the top 5. Shawshank like MR, because it is just a really good movie.
