Fair call IMO. Take SBW out of the equation and it is a probable try.
Can someone confirm if that is legal in league? It looked instinctive to me.

But he was in the right position legally, so it isn’t obvious the French score.

Has the TMO been injured and replaced at half time by Mr. W Barnes?

Gardner said in the first half something like ‘I don’t want to be the central figure in this game’

Who the fuck are you trying to fool, dickhead!

I guess if they had a conversation before the game - but maybe start being flexible with the situation...

Gardiner earning a nice Gold Watch tonight. Bizarre

It is, but they'd normally still try to catch it because they'd get a tap on the 20 instead of having to do a goal line drop out.

    So stupid either way.

I don’t think it was a deliberate foul by SBW, it was just a brain explosion. Had he attempted to catch it I don’t think the French would have scored.

SBW is having too many league induced brain explosions.

Is it league induced? Serious question. I don't follow the boofball

Perhaps if he’d actually tried to catch the fucking thing then it wouldn’t have been a problem...

    About to be another yellow...?

    Late-ish tackle

Probably lucky not to be in Gardiners current mood

Yup. You are completely correct. One of the clearest penalty tries there can be. As soon as SBW makes an illegal player you have to ask whether a try would have been scored if SBW wasn't there.

This team is still poor under pressure.

Yes. In league you can deliberately knock the ball over the dead ball line.

Was Read taken off because he was in Gardiners ear too much?
Maybe it was a tactical/collective decision thing from Hansen, Read & co because they felt Angus was reacting negatively...

Yup, no different to if a player stops a try being scored with a high tackle. In position legally, but stopped the try with an illegal act. Penalty try.

Ireland has put that big win over South Africa at Albany into some perspective.

Cheers. That's what I suspected. Hardly a scenario you get much to retrain your instincts. He looked like he knew the mistake straight after but it was instinctive
