    How is everyone faring?

Bit of a wild night up here (strong gusts of wind) but for the most part, looks like we haven't been hit as bad as Auckland and other parts where it is smashing right now.

Didn't even get enough rain to fill my tanks!

Pretty rough here, we have been without power since early this morning. Unlikely to be back on till later this afternoon (hopefully)
Stuck inside the house with the kids who are constantly fighting... going great!

A couple of storage boxes got flipped on my courtyard, but otherwise nothing major (Auckland central). Feel for those without power etc, especially with kids! Good luck @Virgil...

Not too bad here in matarangi. Massive wind and rain overnight but dry today and about 50 knots on shore breeze right now. Massive tide this morning and a couple hours without power

Left pauanui yesterday and they seem to have it worse than us.

And you better get down to the bottly for some extra cold ones as the more cold ones you have in there the less time it takes to cool down.

    This all makes smart sense

ah yes, the Cyclone recovery special. Lots of ice in the Tropical Ice Box (won't melt for days) to keep the beers cold. And a heap of meat on the BBQ. What power?

Meanwhile, in the Tropics, we're crying out for rain after the driest and hottest December ever. Go you halves?

And a round trip via the nearest KFC outside the power cut area for a bucket of wicked wings or original recipe to balance out the beersies!

Sounding like a fucking holiday now, not a "Summer Storm"

    What's Virgil bitchin about?

@mariner4life I think many places in NZ are the same with hottest driest periods...so the rain will be a welcome relief to many, but not the wind and tidal surges.

    haha

Waves are lapping at waterside properties on one side of the Firth of Thames and, on the other, people in a low-lying area are being told to "urgently self-evacuate".
