A mate posted this on The Book
"Please do remind me what, other than massive profits for big Pharma, has been the reason for destroying the world as we know it and causing massive collateral damage (such as deaths due to lockdown, mental health issues, alcoholism etc etc etc.)?
There really is no logic to any of it and science does not seem to be in fashion any more; just hysteria."
Hard to argue when you see the numbers presented thus

Another surge in UK cases with suggestions of waning efficacy in the vaccines re prevention, however hospitalisations and deaths still much lower, which is the important thing.
Down here in the West Country we are now a covid hotspot, though it looks as though this is due to a surge among the young. Quite likely as it has been reported nearly 5k cases linked to the Boardmasters festival in Cornwall, not reported how many linked to the Beautiful Daze festival in Devon but likely to be a significant number. However, nothing has changed and we’re all getting on with life. All in all, quite positive currently.

Few deaths or serious hospitalisations. That is the key

@catogrande Scotland had their highest ever number of cases yesterday.
With football stadiums opened with no restrictions it's inevitable that things are going to go up for a bit. I do fear a bit for September when schools are back & the weather cools off a bit.

The tourists def. seem to have thrown off all restrictions down our way. We had a covid cluster in a nearby village and quite a few elderly people tested positive without even noticing they had it, which is really good news.
Think the medico's will be quite pleased in some ways as mixing allows any flu viruses to spread and immunity to build up.

My better half's niece tested Positive with no symptoms on Monday. Double jabbed.
We had a family get together on the Sunday, so we all had to get tested.
Kids aged 3-9 no problem
Adults all double jabbed from 27 to 81 years of age. All negative.
Either we've all had it and built up antibodies and/or being double jabbed prevented us from catching it.
Either way, this is life for most people in the UK.
Move on politicians
MOVE THE FUCK ON

Ha! Made me laugh as it seems I have the answer - to feed people's personal paranoia. Mrs Cato has been feeling under the weather for a few days with some symptoms that could, that's could, possibly mean covid. 2 x lateral flow tests being negative so time for a PCR test and wait two days possibly for the result. It seems like she wants to have the bloody virus.
Update: PCR test negative. Slight tinge of disappointment with an unconvincing veneer of relief.
That’s 3 days of virtual personal isolation for nothing.

Yep, The same goes for vaccines. My father had read about side effects of the jab, so of course he had them all (side effects). You name it he had it.
I will of course be same tomorrow, but that is just because I want a couple of days doing fuck all.

We are visiting Mrs Meldrew's elderly parents in their care home next week, do are doing latersl flow tests the day before.
Can see the the need for that, but not for most things.

So the UK had 38,000 cases, sadly 100 people died, how many of them were vaccinated?
0.0026% of infected died...sure that is shit if it's your friend/relative but surely the vast majority of those still dying have underlying health issues, and I expect, are unvaccinated too.

Your maths should be 0.26%.
