When I went to Auckland law school, a minimum number of PI and Maori students had to be admitted.
Is that specifically race-based or have they (lazily? ) identified Maori & PI students as a disadvantaged group ?
There were also extra tutorials given to Maori and PI student over and above what others received.
That's pretty much standard practice in the UK. with universities taking into account things like educational background, growing up in disadvantaged circumstances etc when considering applications and student support. It's def. not race-based but focusses mainly on the most disadvantaged - which are low-income white and black kids.
That seems sensible, fair and a good way to admit people based on their potential and not just on exam marks. The SCOTUS decision appears to say that approach is pretty much OK but deciding by skin pigment is not.

Polls indicate DeSantis is failing rather hard.
Charisma of a door knob.As a Governor he's been effective at getting his agenda implemented. He was also good at being aggressive with the media who disagreed with his agenda
I'm surprised he didn't book as many combative media appearances as possible. Interviews/townhalls with CNN/MSNBC etc
He should sack his advisors and turn away some big donors. They are pushing him towards a Jeb! campaign

@MiketheSnow And they are so old in the Senate.

BTW:
The 81-year-old GOP leader, described by colleagues as one of the most effective political operators in modern history, was hospitalized in March with a concussion after suffering a serious fall at a fundraising dinner.
His monthlong absence drew speculation of possible plans to retire, which McConnell immediately quashed.

I bet most Americans simply yearn for a cadre of political leaders who aren't obviously senile.

Not according to Trump they didn’t!

If I were a Democrat political operative, here is what I would do.
Keep Trump mired in legal trouble all through the primary, which serves the dual purpose of sapping his energy and resources while simultaneously painting him as a persecuted martyr, which will cause Republicans to rally to his defense and hand him the nomination.
Once Trump has the nomination wrapped up, the convictions will come through, which Dems will claim makes Trump a convicted "insurrectionist" and thus ineligible to run for President.
Then attempt to have him removed from the ballot in as many swing states as possible, but you don't need to succeed everywhere. If you can simply have Trump removed in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin (two Dem-controlled states) and then Biden (or Newsom or whoever they run) has a guaranteed path to 270 electoral votes with those two states plus the traditional Democratic strongholds.
The only question is what happens when you try to pull this corrupt stunt. My guess: absolutely nothing. The Republicans are spineless and Trump himself has demonstrated no killer instinct when the stakes are this high.

The thing is, Biden has proven to be a damp squip, the Democrats are just a little less evil and ruthless than the Republicans and America is all out of go-forward. Prove me wrong, USA!

It’s a fucking scandal. Term limits and age restrictions.
IMO, you must retire at 67 - if congress judges that people aren’t able to fly a commercial jet liner after this time, I’m not sure why they should be in charge of running countries.

The same should go for the Presidency, the Supreme Court. If someone is judged to be medically incapable of performing the duties of their office the should be out too
