A routine hammering of the Heat got very interesting last night

chasing about 150 to win, the Heat were 68/8 after 13 and the game was done

    they lost by 2 runs.

In the end being 9 down killed them, because the one set batsman couldn't take singles, and couldn't take huge risks. Good finish though. The Adelaide bowler who got the last over bowled a shit delivery first, and then 4 straight rippers in the perfect spot.

@NTA Warnie is on a crusade. Unpiring mistakes happen and they are part of the game.

but seriously, some of the edges being missed at the moment for these decisions are pretty bad. A case of DRS making umpires worse?

Potentially. On the other hand, cost of DRS is a factor:

The idea of the Third Ump overruling a simple situation like that is appealing tho.

@NTA nah fuck it. He got sawn off, it happens

i am pretty much off all video refs in all games. let the ref/umpire be the guy, live with the mistakes. Stop listening to whinging fans and excuse making coaches.

Yeah, well BBL seems popular this year ...

Yuuuge crowds, and massive interest on this thread ...

Anyways, just caught the end of the orange team's innings against the lime green team, and saw a couple of Kiwis playing:

    1. Colin Munro got 50 off about 40. Yay.

    2. Adam Milne was playing for lime. Wondered what happened to him. Was a huge fanboi. Assuming he succumbed to the curse of the Kiwi Quick (back injury?).

Still bowling around 140. Probably slower than 2015. Such a shame he blew out. Had a better more sustainable action than Lochie Ferguson. Really thought he had a bug future in all forms.

I think we really missed him in the 2015 final too.

Milne is very overrated, check his stats, even his domestic stats aren't that good. He was just able to bowl fast.

Ferguson can bowl fast but he is actually a very good bowler as well. He was NZ's best bowler at the last world cup.

Yeah - Milne seemed to fall off the grid post 2015 CWC and is obviously nowhere in the frame anymore. I had wondered what had happened to him (I don't follow NZ domestic cricket from here, nor am I interested in any of the T20 leagues - I only see the BBL for about an over or two at a time) so his appearance here was of interest to me.

Regardless of how "good" he was or wasn't (I checked the 2015 WCW stats and his record was mediocre) I was a fan as I liked the fact that we could send down a bowler as quick or in fact quicker than any anything the Aussies could manage.

@booboo Milne has ended up at the Thunder because of Bond.

@booboo First Game in for the thunder Milne clocked over 150 k with his quickest at 153km. He has dropped pace since as he is not attacking the crease but holding back a bit more plus the wkts they are playing on as they move around in their bubbles from one state to another.

Geez what a superb finish to the big bash tonite. Kept watching because Dan Christian came in. And once again he was spellbinding. What a way to bring up his 5000 runs with an amazing stretch for second run when it was needed then last ball boundary to win. I am enjoying sky cricket so much.

Dan Christian is 37 and still appearing in winning teams quite a lot.

    Perfect format for him.

The most Village start to a match possible from Aaron Finch - a huge wild swing has him bowled by Glen Maxwell on the first ball of the match.

It is now getting to that timeless stage of the Big Bash where the games are still on at the same time every night, the table feels meaningless, and the competition seems like it will end at Easter...

@Donsteppa bah humbug🙂. It's great to have a decent tv viewing option every night of summer and if you catch a spectacular finish it's quite a luxury. I hear you about longevity but then again what sport's comp doesn't over egg the pudding?

They're great games to go to too.

@Siam yep, can't go wrong with guaranteed sport each night. Subconsciously I somehow manage to watch most of every game of each season till about now, but for some reason I haven't watched many of the finals series.

Yep, realised that later but was too lazy to correct it. Was the first ball I looked up at and such a horrible shot 🙂

I've enjoyed having the big bash on every night. I've seen some incredible cricket. Some good finishes. But as a competition, i have no idea what's happening (i guess because i don't have a team to follow?). I couldn't tell you what the table looks like. Or how many rounds have been played.

It's very much like masturbation. It's pretty much always fun. Sometimes you do it because you need it. sometimes you do it because you're bored. But it still comes a distant 2nd to the real thing

This analogy is so spot on it's not even funny.

Let's face it, the Black Caps recent test form has been fucken orgasmic.
