Definitely recommend it if you're into historical fiction. I'm a massive fan of clavell, igguldon, Cornwell etc...

But stuff actually happens in the books form those writers... action occurs.. Luminaries was a steaming pile of waffling boring no-action bullshit IMO

Different strokes I guess, though the ending did leave a little to be desired.
Thats exactly the criticism I've heard from many people about James Clavell who is one of my favourite authors.
I really enjoy her descriptive style of writing.

Confession.. I never finished it. Got about 100 pages from the end and lost the will to read . One of the most boring books I have ever read (or not quite read in this case)
