"In my humble opinion there's not much point having a crack at the refs. You've got to be consistent and careful when you do that sort of thing," Hansen said. "He didn't have a crack at the ref in [the] Scotland [match] in the World Cup. I know he was upset the ref didn't talk to Stephen but if I was in their shoes I'd be wanting to ask myself: 'what is it we're doing that's making him not want to talk to Stephen?' If you listen to the commentary, you've got to pick your moments. The best captains in the world pick their moments, they don't try and talk to them about everything. They just pick their moments. If I was in their shoes maybe that's what I'd be having a look at instead of having a crack at the ref."

Hansen's getting all philosophical in his old age...

Aussie fans will love that [emoji3]

Yeah - that was a shocker, but I thought we kicked too much, in general - Barrett being guilty, as well.

On Fekitoa, I think the thing that stands out for me compared to most of the other AB backs - especially Ben Smith - is that he doesn't look to have "time". When Smith has the ball, he always seems to have time to decide what to do and execute. Conversely, Fekitoa always looks rushed and under pressure. Bit of a lack of composure. I thought Lienert-Brown looked significantly better that Fekitoa last night.

An interesting question as to who should specialise where in the long term. In my mind, I have SBW, Crotty, Ngatai, Moala and Lienert-Brown as more 2nd fives than centres - and Fekitoa and Tamanivalu as centres rather than 2nd fives. Lots of interchangeability at present, but in the long term, one or two from the first group are going to have to transition if they want a long term test spot.

Savea looked a bit better, but still not great.

Most of the others were pretty good for the most part.

Sheesh fellas, you're losing it over one grubber kick? 1st world rugby problems....

Every 1st and 2nd 5 we've selected in the last decade (Carter, Mauger, Lucky, BB, Cruden, Nonu etc) have all had those rush of blood moments in a test match that they've tried the grubber in the attacking 22 that have us fans going arrgghhh

Watched the foxtel replay today sober.

It was a shit game all round

Kearns. Quite unbelievable. Is there actual evidence that Australian rugby subscribers enjoy his drunken barfly fuckwit moaning and bitching schtick?

Kafer, best pundit in the game, seems to patiently deal with it

Kafer, Gregan, Eales and Horan are excellent. Fair and calm analysis from some true legends. But it's ruined by Willis Kearns and that halfwit Maaaaardo.

Some of Barrett's kicks were beauties and put the Wallabies under great pressure. I don't think he has kicked too much. You cannot always throw the ball wide.

It was really noticable to me that under no circumstances were we to retaliate against the niggle. Aaron Smith saw Coles about to spark up but he doused it immediately. It really is a professional outfit, dem All Blacks.

It might be a have been a bit more interesting if Frank's incident happened in Australia with the local broadcaster showing it over and over on the big screen. 70 minutes of 14 vs 15 would have made things a bit closer.

I have had to watch Channel 10's coverage the last couple of weeks and I must say Nathan Sharpe and Matt Burke were a massive step up from Foxtel.

Perhaps. Poite seemed perfectly happy with it and was right there. Once he said "Off zee 'ead!" three times you think the TMO would have had a look after the directives on neck rolls etc.

Though the TMO was Veldsman wasn't it? So it might not have mattered 😉

I hate to pull out useless statistics, but this is a new low for the 'sloe (in modern times).

The Aussies scored one try and 17 points in 160 minutes of rugby the last two Saturdays. The last time the Aussies scored fewer than 17 points against the ABs over consecutive weekends was August 1964 - losing 14-9 and 18-3 at Carisbrook and Lancaster Park. They scored a try in each game.

In consecutive games (the first in 1972 and the other in 1974) we beat them 38-3 and 11-6 in Sydney and Auckland respectively with the Aussies scoring one try over the pair of games.

In one of those games in each pair, the Aussies were at least in with a chance of winning / drawing as time expired i.e. they lost by two five point margins.

Data according to the pick and go website. I'm happy for this to be peer reviewed before you fax it to Phil Kearns.

Sorry, the huge thrashing in 1972 was in Auckland at the end of the awful Aussies tour. But you knew that.

I reckon that clip will get airtime the next time we front up against the English.

BOD was retweeting about it with the reverse angle, which is even worse than the first angle. So there's that.

In any case, the ARU has it at their option to get it reviewed I think? The match review official can either refer an incident on his own, or from either team.

Douglas didn't make a big deal out of it at the time, because he looked to care more about getting the ball. Rumour is he didn't want to make a big deal of it after the match either. I have no way of verifying or disproving that rumour.

However, the ARU would be doing a poor job of player welfare if they DIDN'T refer the incident.

isn't there that time period it must be done within, like when a Frenchmen gouged McCaw in the RWC final, time had passed so no citing...

I agree with all above, it looks very bad, and I think it aint gonna go away, these things need to be done by correct process (which by SANZAR rules, it has) rather than trial by social media
